They're a stable company that pays good, and currently has abundant freight. Their equipment is maintained properly and they have a good safety record so the scales and DOT generally leave you alone. But good is a driver specific term...like beauty is in the eye of the beholder (or beer holder). Some drivers here wouldn't work anywhere else, others, like me, are here because we got sick of being shutfled around at other companies when they're sold or are resorganized by a new parent company and need a company that is gonna be here and owned by the same people for the foreseeable future no matter what the economy does. I mean, this is my third time with an Acklie family company, so there is something that keeps me coming back (or else I am like a battered spouse that can't bring themselves to stay gone for good). As far as being good for an experienced driver, I am approaching 4 million career miles, and I came back...and one guy in my orientation class has 54 years behind the wheel.

I know Inhalation Hazard or Poison in any amount have to be placarded.. and anything with a UN#. I forget how that all is. And admittedly I never did it enough to be as well versed in it. Everytime I had HazMat I had to get the book out to see what I needed. And we had the sticky placards because a lot of our trailers didn’t have flips. And I do remember showing up to the customer a lot of time and half of em were gone and blown off.

If you have 1001 lbs or more of different table 2 classes you can roll with Dangerous or those classes.

Now if you have one class that’s 2205 lbs or more and any amount of any other table 2 class, the placard for the heavier class is required but you can roll with either Dangerous for the others or those specific classes.

Poison IIRC is table 2 if it’s class 6 unless it’s marked Inhalation Hazard.

Deland said that it was a GPS issue...but I wasn't using the tablet, I was using the Love's app, and the tablet's ELD location said I was at the city I was trying to fuel...don't know what the issue is.

Now my shipper loaded me, and are now unloading me, so I don't know how much extra time I am gonna have to putz around fueling twice...I may just bypass the terminal fuel location and request a new one down the road.

Between the nanny systems, the retarded auto transmission programming, the assigned fuel locations, and no APU, I am starting to miss the freedom of a WTF-I company. I did see an advertisement from Lonestar in my area making significantly more than what SPD was paying...if I didn't need the insurance asap, I might go back to open deck...with the crap ride of these Junkliners, my back is bugging me almost as much as when I had to tarp.

Lone star had driver facing cams, a worse version of peoplenet then you had at SPD, and they are also reporting to EW Wylie.

Hopefully I will be retired by the time they start getting their version of these test trucks. The more gadgets they stick on these trucks, the more I miss the old R model Mack I learned to drive with.
