Good ole Church Hill, TN. When I drove for Westside Transport, we hauled a lot of glass out of AGC, that and Cinnaminson, NJ when it was open

Subscribed. Glad you found a place your happy with. I myself have bounced around over the years, but think I finally found my happy place. Be safe, and could you possibly post some pictures in the future of some of the loads and different trailers you pull?
supersnackbar and 4mer trucker Thank this. -
Trailers
Double drop
And flatbed
And my current trailer, a Canadian flat....
Why is it a Canadian flat you ask
The front spread adjusts because Canada has restrictions on spread axle trailers, so I can slide the front trailer axle back and make it a regular tandem setup.
For some reason I never snapped a pic of the single drop.
My current load is an upright crate load instead of regular unprotected glass packs. I had a load last week that was crate glass that was in crates that looked more like regular shipping crates so the loaders had to remove the A-frames and tie it down like a regular flatbed load with straps and strap winches.
We do have a new type double drop, but I haven't hauled one yet.
It has a metal nose cone and hinged rear panels, plus the tarp in on some kind of track system.
This is my current load
Once I haul a regular load again, I will post some of those.Last edited: Jan 7, 2018

I have a video of the plant moving and loading glass, but it's on my phone and I am not sure how to upload it...or if I am even allowed to since it's at one of our customers plants.
But this is how they move and load glass
Big web slings, and yes...they do drop a pack every once in a while. I heard a delivery customer drop a pack of jumbos (130" x 240") a while back. Condensation on the outer lites cause it to slip out of the sling (a lite what they call a single pane of glass). It wasn't one off of my load, but it shook the building and it was only a foot off the floor. The loaders say, when the plant drops one, especially when it is 15' in the air moving over the stock floor...it shakes the whole plant.Sirscrapntruckalot, FalconsFan21, 28 and 2 others Thank this. -
I can only imagine what kind of damage it would do to a trailer if it fell on one.

They had a big crate similar to what I am hauling fall over on one of the plant loaders a few weeks before I went thru securement training. It was in another company's dry van. He saw it coming, but knew he couldn't get out of the way, so he crouched down. The thing hit the other wall, but then slid down on top of him. He lived, but he will have a long road to recovery ahead of him. Fortunately, he had his Kevlar sweater and all his safety gear on...it scalped him when it pushed his hard hat past his ears, broke at least 1 leg, and a bunch of other bones. Our loading crew helped stabilize him and dig him out with the paramedics. Really put it into perspective how fast things happen.Cabinover101, Sirscrapntruckalot, FalconsFan21 and 5 others Thank this.

Pretty cool, I checked out their website and FB page. How did you come across these guys? I have probably seen them before, but never paid them much attention.

I was sitting, for the umteenth time, on a Saturday morning in Flying J in Carlise PA after Big G's rocket scientists screwed up another load swap. Then dispatch wouldn't answer me when I asked about the solution. So I started paroozing the online want ads (Indeed, craigslist, zip recruiter) with the intention of filling out an app before the weekend was over and their ad was on one of the 1st pages on zip recruiter. Filled out an app, and they called me Monday morning. They said they normally don't have to advertise, just word of mouth from current drivers, but they were expanding their fleet by 20 trucks or so, and needed qualified drivers a little faster than word of mouth provides. Turns out, I was 1 of 3 Big G drivers that applied that weekend, and the other 2 were referred by another Big G driver that had moved to glass a few years earlier. Gonna start calling this place the Big G refugee corporation.FalconsFan21, Knucklehead, Lonesome and 3 others Thank this.

I hear Readers Digest have vacancies for short story writing.

I'll keep that in mind...I've always been a bit on the verbose side of things when it comes to the initial introductory thread post...plus if you were ever to speak to me in person, I tend to talk peoples ear off.FalconsFan21 Thanks this.
