Around here they are among the lowest paid, about $16 an hour to start. Soda drivers make more

You don't need any experience to haul beer; just a CDL-A. Knock on enough doors and you'll get a job. If your back was in the condition mine is, you wouldn't even consider hauling beer or any other beverage for store deliveries. I didn't hurt my back delivering beverages, but the drivers I know that do that type work are in much worse shape than me.

I did the Coca Cola deal when I was 18. It will be a base pay and commission. Also if you want a bad back then the beverage delivery jobs will sure do it.

I once helped a friend and one other guy hand pack one truck load over on to another truck (Flatbed) as his truck broke down.
Passing cases from one truck over the 1 ft gap to the other is no big deal for just a few cases but for hundreds.
It took hours and I knew right there and then that it was not a job for me.
    It hurts just remembering it.

I work for an ab distributor as a route driver. Ive been there for 17 years and im ready to pulll out. Its awesome when your 20 but takes a toll on your entire body when you turn 40. Im even an in shape guy who eats well. Where im at we get commission for what we deliver..its not a bad gig at 55,000 a year monday thru Friday but be prepared to work in all types of weather and be sore all the time..we have guys taking early retirement at 55 and getting part time jobs because their bodies cant take it..no way you can retire at 63 working off a side loader doing 1000 cases a day with no help
