Are smart watches allowed to be worn well driving or will be written up and found at fault for all crashes if wearing one.

Haven't seen anything where it says it can't be worn, but, like anything else, it's something which can be used against you. It's not unheard of for motor carrier enforcement officers to demand to look through cell phones they see in the cab to try finding something they can use against you... e.g., you stop to take a leak for a couple minutes, send out a text during that time, didn't think the amount of time significant enough to log it, now they've got you sending a text during a time you're shown as being on Line 4. So, I just kept mine in the sleeper and wore a Bluetooth set. Probably best to do the same with that watch.

They can ask whatever they want, but in the absence of a court order, they can pound sand. HOWEVER, be sure to have a password lock on your phone at all timeat

My phone rides right up front so I can take and make phone calls, or do whatever else, when legal and appropriate.

Can't you kids put those smart devices down for a little while? I don't even know how you could read that little display and you certainly don't need that distraction behind the wheel!

Nothing on the books that regulate the use of a smart watch by a truck driver currently. Once you begin seeing smart watches that are stand-alone units that do not rely on a connected cell phone to talk/text that may change. The smart watch I wear has been useful for when I would be away from the cab of the truck (within 50 feet) and someone may call and I can see who is calling and/or take the call on my watch, since I usually leave my phone mounted in the truck when I am nearby. Thus far I do not know of any carriers restricting use of a smart watch, but as technology changes, so could the rules.

Why would anyone need a watch that does more than tell the time and maybe the date?

Depending on the smart watch, they do far more that just tell the time/date. :)

A smart watch is a cell phone and would be treated as one.

You've never owned anything simply because you wanted to? Do you drive the most basic, stripped-down car you can find simply because you only need it for conveyance? Was it absolute need which got you to buy a computer, or were there other reasons?
The guy has a smart watch... he wanted one, he got it. His money, his choice of what he wants to do with it.
