Do we have any geezer's that remember the old "bunkers and blowers"? Was a little before my time, but pulled many of those old Thermo-Kings that rattled the cab. I remember a friend sucked one dry, and couldn't get it started after he re-fueled it(lost the prime). I told him to pressurize the fuel tank, to get fuel up there. Zoom! Oh, and remember that fan belt that was a mile long, and would always come off?
So what happens to a load when it gets too warm?

Always watch the temp and the fuel level so in the case of something going wrong you can get it to a shop and get it fixed asap. Sometimes your reefer will just take a crap and then your screwed.

I believe it. Since coming off the road, I now work night operations for a refer company. I wouldn't believe the calls we get from drivers if I didn't take them myself. For others to believe them will stretch any credulity left...
As an example, the driver who ran cross country with a load of meat, but never once checked his trailer fuel, or his temps. By the time he got to the other shore, the original 28 degree load was temping out above 65!
Or the produce load that arrived frozen. His previous load had been ice cream (-20) and he 'forgot' to change it. Salinas to Cheyenne...
Or the driver that never turned on his reefer with a load of frozen food....the bills said, "Zero". He said he thought that meant 'no need to run it'.
Hooooo weeeeeee! -
Hey patty, well, he should have been fired. I mean, it's not too hard to flip a toggle switch. I'm sure that cost the company plenty.
