So what is the protocall on brokering your own loads here at Mercer?

The only thing I know is that it has to be a approved broker. That you don't get paid until Mercer get's paid. And Mercer doesn't provide advances on brokered freight.

So does anyone know the true protocall? Who do you have to talk to at Mercer to do this? Who are the approved brokers?

I looked in the contractor handbook thinking I'd find the answers there. The only thing I saw that was even close was a paragraph that says....

"The Contractor must give his or her cordinator 24 hours notice before trip leasing to another carrier. If your cordinator knows you are in a area where there is no freight, he will excuse you from the 24 hour notice"

I sure wish I knew we could do this when we were sitting at Ontario TA last October.

I was told you have to go 36 hours without being OFFERED a load before you can attempt to set up a broker load. That means if your pref's are set out to 800 miles, they can offer you a load 800 miles away for .32cmp and only goes 100 miles. But that counts as your OFFERED load. That is what two coordinators have told me so far. The only people I have talked to that broker freight regularly is the Van drivers here. I tried to broker a load from Allied Moveing Company(coleman american) and got told no. As far as a definate answer, I dont believe they want you to broker from anyone. Which wouldn't be a problem if they had the freight to support the some 2000 trucks they have hired in the last year.
