Like I had said earlier. I have a job lined up to be a company driver with FFE. I just want to go the best route. If its better to go company then I'll do that. I don't really want to though. I'd like to drive my own truck and be a O/O but I have a family to think of as well. If I were to lease on with a company which one would you guys recommend it be? Again thanks for all the info.

not trying to dissuade you on your dream just remember if you go the O/O route you are no longer a driver you have to be business person and the truck are just a tool it is the relationships that matter and it might be a good idea to cultivate them first build a client base get your ducks in a row so you will be ready when find the gig

That makes sense. The only thing that scares me is that this company is only willing to pay me 25c a mile. I believe I'd starve trying to drive for that. It's 25c for 3 months and going up to 29c by the next year. I think I'd make more O/O but I know that you guys know more than I do. Also, I do have family that O/O's.

25 cents per mile as a company driver? That's an insult. I made 29 cents per mile right out of driving school in 2004. Others have mentioned working with your family, that's not a bad idea. Driving is the easy part of being and O/O. There's quite a bit involved if you have your own authority. Quite a bit!
You have other options, I'd look at them very closely and consider others before you do the 25 cents per mile gig.

thats what I was thinking. I can't afford to feed myself with that pay let alone my family.

I'm wanting to lease on somewhere. That shouldn't cost me as much as getting my own authority right?
