I started out driving working for Gordon Trucking out of Washington before Heartland bought them out, and it was common knowledge from the Gordon family who many of us knew personally that they bought new Cascadia trucks in lots of 200 for around $70K each, ran them to 350,000 miles, then sold them used for around $50k to $60k. Their in house service was very good, and all of the trucks had APU's. The Gordon family even owned the Freightliner dealership that sold new and all of their used units. That family knew how to make a lot of money. Then they sold out and screwed all of the people that worked for them for decades.

I'm with you. These stories float around on the internet like poop on water.

I have a son-in-law who's convinced he saw Sasquatch on a hunting trip a couple of years ago too. :)

And that is how big business is done.

I started out working for a company in 1990 at minimum wage. Company was literally 1 month old. I worked for them on and off until 2012. Some of those people were made millionaires many times over. They fired me 3 times without warning over the years. And each time they did, another millionaire was made. But it wasn’t me.

    Lol

This story seems close to reasonable, but you have to look at it as a total picture.

What they were doing is literally selling themselves trucks at dealer cost. The dealership probably even lost money on every truck the family sold to themselves.

Also, overall the family paid less sales tax on the low-priced trucks.

They were robbing Peter to pay Paul, doing a ####ty job running the dealership profits into the ground to benefit the trucking company.

Some peopl can make that work. Some cannot. Since they went out of business we know they could not.
