The Country started in the east with horse and buggy and much of what you see is from those beginnings

    Also
Most loads going East pay better for the simple reason many won’t go there

Upstate NY is pretty open and you’d think you were in Wyoming. Or close to it

If im going someplace east i will either use a marker and write the exit numbers/directions on my windshield in the bottom corner next to my gps or use a stickynote (prefered) with the directions on it stuck to the side of my GPS.

It has saved my bacon more then once up that way. Especially as i do end dump and end up in some stupidly rural places from the 1800s that even cars find daunting.

Just take your scissors and cut the New England states, Washington & Oregon off of your atlas, and you'll be ok.

Back in 2005 when I went to Landstar, I started at Cleveland tore my atlas straight down I 77 to I 40 In Carolina then east till I hit the Ocean. Threw that whole NE East of I 77 and North of I 40 in the trash. Never have went back.

David Allan Coe has a beautiful version of "Please come to Boston". Put it on loop. It will get you through.

I got a lot of respect for the guys that go to New York all the time. There was a time I used to go into the city every single day.

With my own truck, you couldn't pay me enough to go into the city. And with that being said I'm sure there are guys that make a lot of money going up there.

Closest I've come is NJ on the other side of the GW bridge. Couple weeks back. Delivered to Hackensack, and then picked up a load in Somerset. Those areas were not difficult. I've also been in N NY State. I agree. Totally different animal up there. But I like @kemosabi49 's idea. Maybe I'll try that at some point.
