Anyone know how long it takes to recieve your liscense from DMV.?

Graduated CDL School almost two weeks ago, and still waiting on my CDL liscence to come in the mail. I tried calling DMV today, however nothing but recordings.

So far I only applied to one comapny because I was told that i have to wait until i have my cdl in hand for a company to officially begin the hiring process.

As a noobie I am interested in either: Swift, Wel, Pam , TransAm or Conway to begin my journey.
Amount of home time is not much of a factor for me in my decision process, three days per month would be fine,. What is important to me is after finishing my training period i would like to earn a good weekly paycheck.. Can anyone offer advice?

    Thanks

Well in Tennessee you walk out the door with it, But in the south we do things a might simpler than some other states.......LOL I'd go to your local DMV and ask in person if you can't get a person on the Phone.

most states are giving paper copies and mailing the hard copies within 2 weeks.

I could be wrong but freight around this time is pretty slow, so as a new guy you could be sitting alot. But good luck on your journey

Dont know about pa. I live in Az and they hand it to ya on the spot. As far as who to work for its hard to say. But a good rule of thumb is smaller is better. Less chance of getting left sitting and a lot better chance of being treated like a human being. Good luck! Oh and whatever you do DO NOT LEASE A TRUCK!!!!

Same here, passed test, got sealed packet from tester, drove to DMV and walked out with warm card in wallet. Packet to license--35 minutes, including fifteen minute drive.
    Go to office and check!

Well, lets see. When I added an endorsement a couple years ago, it took California more than 9 months to get my hard copy to me.
Budget cuts, incompetence, stupidity, laziness... you pick!

1 to 3 weeks is "normal" in many states. Mine was delivered less than 2 weeks, but I had a paper copy which is legal. Just sit and wait, and KEEP up to date with ANYONE you are speaking with at the trucking companies.

    Good Luck

I was based in Pittsburgh for years, and the last time I had to deal with that BS it was right at two weeks (I remember, because that temp license they give you expired the day the legal one showed up!) Also bear in mind you live in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (Commonwealth = communist), and they do NOTHING fast. I would try bugging them again, but then again, my blood pressure goes up just thinking about dealing with PennDOT again. Good luck!

Well I live in Pa and when I went through my school a few years back I had to go into a local PennDot and get it there. Walked out with it in a few minutes. They didn't mail anything to me. Not sure about that, you may wanna go there and ask.
