Georgia gives the temp paper one and mails the hard copy within a couple of weeks. got mine in a week. paper copy is legal but most companies want the hard copy already.

in VT all you have to walk in and say hi im XXXXXX and i need a license and thats all there is too it lol.

Most states you need 100 forums of government issued I.D, and what not before they even talk to you.

NC started mailing ours out (for security or so they say) its a bunch of crap, i want to walk out with it!:biggrin_25516: I may just move back to VT so i can :biggrin_25512:

Georgia started mailing the hard copies because they made them harder to fake and therefore the printers in the Department of Driver Services could not do all of the holograms and raised signatures that are on the new licenses.

In VT we also have a special office with 2 windows and NO lines for commercial drivers. Liberals as thick as trees up here, but DMV has their ducks in a row. You can come back AT, but don't count on getting out easy!

Hmmm...where'd you hear you had to have your license in hand to start applying for jobs? I got two "pre-hires" already and I only just got my permit today, lol. Swift will get you your license through their training program I think.
Regardless, you should be able to apply for jobs with your temporary license.
And just for the heck of it, I applied at Stevens Transport, Roehl, TransAm, and US Xpress, and got pre-hires at Roehl and USX so far.

Vwal, applied for one company and they told me as soon as i get my CDL in the mail to fax a copy of it - only than could they begin the hiring process.. So if that is the case - I will just wait until i have it to apply to any others - All the pre hires in the world don't get me behind the wheel. I will have no prob getting hired anywhere., so will just wait patiently.

    Zero Errors....
