What are they?
JoeyJunk, D.Tibbitt and 4mer trucker Thank this. -
As far as I know it's the famous South Jersey dragonfly.
I've noticed them mostly in South Jersey towns that are near the Delaware River sort of in the area of the Delaware Memorial Bridge like Salem County.
Years ago I had a friend that lived in Salem County not too far from this area, and he was infested with those things. They were everywhere and they were gigantic.
I don't know how the heck that guy lived there.bzinger, JoeyJunk, misterG and 1 other person Thank this. -
Dragonflies are everywhere. Many migrate from the Gulf to Canada and back.
I used to be terrified of them when I was a kid growing up in Oregon.
They're harmless and one of their favorite feast is Mosquitos so let them be. ✌Last edited: Jul 25, 2021

I had one get stuck on my 5th wheel once. He got flipped over on his back somehow and all his wings were in the grease. I tried to clean him off but he died.

I see dragonflies here in Kansas often this time of year so I'm sure you do in Nebraska too.
They're most active during the heat of the day.bzinger Thanks this.
