I’m worried about our 50,000 mile PM schedule at PAM. That could end up causing some downtime. However, I was a DOT Nazi about getting stuff fixed on my 2021 Pete 579 and it all got fixed at a nearby Pete dealer.

The dedicated side of PAM auto parts is totally different than the trashy OTR side. You deliver on time or a Ford plant with 9000 employees shuts down a production line. Some douche tested it and it shut down. It’s just In time.

I’ve been staying at the same truck stop 4 nights a week and in my own bed 3 nights a week. It doesn’t seem real after running reefer for weeks at a time for less money.

    Still undecided Thanks this.

I've never had an issue with getting reloads at Magnum, even when I go out west. As for waiting times and shippers and recievers, I've only had to request detention pay once. And that was only and hour and a half. Most places i go to, I'm in and out within 2 hours. I have had multiple days of layover since i started here but they've always been paid when requested. As for cleaning out trailers, that just comes with running reefer. It doesn't matter what reefer company you're with. Usually a good sweep out satisfies most customers unless you hauling produce, raw chicken, etc. I've personally only had to washout a trailer a few times. I also should be on track to make 60k-65k my first year here.

I can't speak on your experience with Magnum, but I've had mostly positive experiences with this company. There's a few things that I don't like, but I deal with it. I'm happy here. A lot happier than I was when i was with Schneider.

I will agree with you on a couple things here.

    1. I've no idea about how much freight goes down to Texas as I live in Michigan. Actually on a Texas load right now. Michigan isn't exactly a big freight lane for them but they find me loads to Wisconsin or Ohio then get me home from there. Sometimes 200-250 miles to get home but I'm not much of a complainer.

    2. I will agree with you that the online payroll stuff is very confusing, or rather, it's just not informative at all. I can see if my detention and layover pay is correct but that's about it. I can't see how many paid miles i actually run, but they seem to be accurate with the estimates i figure up. They really need to do something about this.

    3. Most dispatchers i don't have an issue with but there's been a few that are...not great. My first dispatcher was great...if you could get a hold of him. I resorted to calling other DM's just to get some semblance of a prompt response. Thankfully he moved on to another job and my new DM i can actually get a hold of. Whoever was on Minnesota outbound i didn't particularly care for, but he moved elsewhere within the company and the new gal who does MN outbound is awesome.

    4. I don't mind boring runs, in fact i love them. Give me a run through the middle of nowhere any day. I was born and raised in rural Kansas though. As for the cold...pretty sure you know what you signed up for driving for a company based out of North Dakota...

    5. Trucks are governed to 65 now

I'm a driver at Magnum and Magnum really needs to tell drivers during orientation to download 2 apps - ShipsMobile and PeopleNet ConnectedDriver.

Do you have a smart phone @cdavis188 ? I'm assuming you do, so go to the app store. You need to download 2 apps.

    1. Ships Mobile - On this app is where you can scan in your BOL's/receipts upon completing trips and where you can see the paid miles/trip exense reimbursements. You are using the Magnum online portal (greenshades or something like that), which you also have to use as it will show stuff not on the Ships Mobile App such as your $3,000 sign on bonus (in 3 seperate payments at 3 months, 6 months and 1 year), orientation pay, stuff like that.

For Ships Mobile to get set up, just search "Ships Mobile" on your phones app store. Then, your driver ID is the first 3 letters of your last name then the first letter of your first name. Your password is the last 4 of your social security number added to the end.

So for example, if your name is John Doe and your social security number is 123-45-6789 then to log into the ShipsMobile app you need to enter:

    Username: doej
    Password: doej234

    2. For the PeopleNet Connected Driver App I honestly forgot how I signed up/connected my Magnum E-Logs to it. I had to have a former trainer of Magnum show me all of this (keep in mind I came onto the company as an experienced driver, so I got lucky in that I randomly ran into a Magnum Trainer at one of the shippers). On my info page on the Connected Driver App it gives me full name, my personal email address and my 5 digit Magnum ID. So maybe I had to put that information in?

If you have trouble with the PeopleNet Connected Driver App then perhaps another forum member or a fellow Magnum driver/dispatcher/office worker could help you out. As I said I forgot what the trainer had me do to link my E-Logs with this app. But anyways this app is very useful for showing your daily E-Log summary apps, to make it easy to calculate what recap hours you have coming back. To get there on the app you click the 3 parrallel lines "Menu" button, then "Daily Summary" page and it will show that. Because the PeopleNet tablet itself does not give you an easy day by day summary of your E-Log summary like this app does.

    3. Also, for your PeopleNet E-Logs it's very useful to go to compliance.fleethealth.io and you can verify and edit your E-Logs via that website. It's way easier than using the PeopleNet tablet IMO. I'm not going to write the "Organization ID" for Magnum on here and because I don't have 7 posts on this forum I can't send private messages on this forum. So just ask another Magnum driver or former Magnum drivers what the "Organiztion ID" is for Magnum and they can give it to you. Or I can give it to you once I get a few more posts (don't really feel like making posts for no reason though).

I hope this helps a little bit. This is all stuff that Magnum really needs to go over with drivers during orientation but for me at least, they didn't. I'm so glad I ran into that former Magnum trainer to show me this stuff, it has made my job so much easier with keeping track of my pay/E-Logs.

Also, like @cdavis188 I have never waited 2-3 days for loads out West or anywhere else in the country. I've been with Magnum for half a year but I've never waited a day for a load unless I ran out my 70 clock and forced a 34 reset. Magnum has a layover policy where you get paid $180 a day if you sit for 24 hours instead of running a load when you have hours to run. All you have to do is tell your DM and you'll get it, I've never had a problem getting it when I requested it.

Also, to those saying 65k is only what the trainers will make, that's not the case in 2022. I came onto the company late last year as an experienced driver and they started me out at $0.54 CPM base pay. With $0.06 CPM bonus pay for each month if you can hit the criteria for it. They just now raised every single OTR driver's base pay up $0.04 CPM. So now I'm making $0.58 CPM base pay, with $0.06 CPM potential monthly bonus pay.

And there is not an OTR company that has a better hometime policy, because there essentially is no hometime policy. Take what time off you want. I've been running 6 weeks on and 2 weeks off. During the holidays I ran 3 weeks on and 9 days off. They were cool with both. No questions asked.

I've been extremely happy with Magnum in my short time here and despite having a couple of years OTR experience before I came over here, I'm really glad that I came here even though it's a starter company. $0.58 CPM base pay + $0.06 CPM monthly bonus pay, with whatever hometime I want, and I get to choose my loads going out of Minneapolis and Fargo. I haven't been to Fargo too much but I go through Minneapolis all the time. That equates to me choosing my loads probably 15-20% of the time, which I'm very happy with.

I've been thinking about making my own thread about Magnum and I might do so one day. But for now I wanted to comment on this thread to help @cdavis188 with the cell phone apps that will help him with the payroll issues but also to give a little bit of my point of view on the company.
