Hello, I'm actually starting OTR with usa trucking and Sept. 28th and i was wondering if anyone could tell me a little bit more about the OTR and the company itself. how long are you in the housing before you go out on the road or is it like c1 training where you stay there the whole time until they say that you are ready for the road? Do you actually drive and make stops like you would if you were on your own or not is what i mean? How is the housing there, is it hotels again or what? When you get your own truck what is provided for you and what will you have to provide for yourself? I have heard about the CPM going up every 3 months, is that true? And I know that usally it is what you make of it, such as if you go in with a bad attitude that it is going to be a bad experience, but how is the company and staff overall? Sorry if this is long i just really want to know all about what there is to know.

You go out with a trainer as soon as ornt is done and there is one ready. Belive me you don't want to stay in house. You are on the road full time. And when done you get your own truck and away you go. Thats easy now don't read your map when driving and have 2 wrecks in 2 weeks or you are done. lol

thanks alot for that info. do you happen to know what they supply for the truck when you are on you own or do we have to get all of that like cb, frigde, etc... and i have been reading about places to leave you vehicle or just you trailer for when you go home, is there a web-site or any way to find places like that around where you live.

Nah whei was there u have to get cooler and all that on your own. and it depends on where you live where you get to park your truck. mine was easy parked it in my front yard. But who knows now. That can change from day to day with companies

The will NOT let you park in East St. Louis, it's a fireable offense, someone got killed in their rig over there and it's considered a drug hot spot.
Talk it over rwith your fleet manager about where they will let you keep your rig (I'm not familar with St. Louis)
BTW it's gonna be YOUR rig. So keep it clean. (at least on the inside, the outside is about $40 and there's always rain. Ferget the trailers, just sweep them out and check for nails)
You'll be out a few weeks with one trainer and a week with another one (to switch it up) then you're off to Van Buren for final. You should get your truck the next day or so.
Pack light at first becuase you're gonna be very familiar with Greyhound for a bit, and less to carry is better. Once you GET your ride you can fill it as you see fit. Takes about 2 months to get it right.

i know some of you read these forums... do you have a truck with a double bunk?? i only ask this because i am a real big fella.. 6 foot 3 to be exact. and while i hope to be on a friendly basis with a trainer im not too shure about sharing a bunk with one. lol

as far as i know all the usa trainer trucks are equipped with double bunks

I know a guy in my Class that trained with USX and the trainer did not have double bunk, so the trainer dropped the student off at a hotel everynight the first week. Then when they started teaming and driving at night there was no issue, as the top bunk is off limits while the truck is in motion.

Might wanna use a sleeping bag during training, so you don't catch cooties.
