I will be leaving PA to begin at prime trucking school next week. Any advice would help alot. Any extras I should bring? Tips? Anything would be great.
I am 46 years and come from a trucking family, none of my relatives went to a trucking school.
Is the hazemat endoresment test hard?

Pack light in a soft-sided bag - a duffle bag is ideal. There is a list on the site under Questions from New Drivers titled "Packing List" as well as one your recruiter should have sent you. Enough clothes for a couple of weeks - extra underwear and socks. Make sure you have something warm to wear as well - it won't be the dead of winter, but some states will start to have snow on the ground during your training. Shower clogs!!!! Don't worry about towels - they're provided by the truckstops.

I didn't find the hazmat test hard - you get to take it everytime you renew your license, but I'm good at taking multiple-guess tests. I used to write them in the military. It involves a lot of memorization. You won't need to take it until you go back to PA to transfer your CDL back there, so you have some time to work on it.

If you take any prescriptions at all make sure you bring a doctors note stating they do not impair your ability to drive.
Make sure your BP is less than 140 over 90.

A "doctor's note"won't do any good as far as prescriptions are concerned. The FMCSAs medical review board establishes what is and isn't allowed. Let your recruiter know what you're taking in advance, and get any issues resolved before you come.

Son, you better be real smart, & real strong. Prime is one of the best. Never drove for them, But I managed to meet some of the drivers over the years. They will run your butt off. If you can drive for them, your good.

During the three weeks at Springfield I will drive across country before going back for my CDL test? I thought they might keep us near the home terminal. I hope it is all over the states!

Maybe, Maybe not, just depends on where u are dispatched, 3 weeks go fast, but there is a good chance you will make it out west. If not while your doing PSD then for sure while you are doing TNT training. Good luck and have fun
