STARTING SCHOOL WITH SWIFT # MILLINGTON,TN on April 11th

    Is anyone else starting school with Swift on April 11th? I will be out of the Ocala, FL terminal I am from Orlando, FL. Going to school # Millington,TN. What should I expect with school & the OTR training? I have no trucking experience and am taking the permit test towards the end of next week.

    Has anyone recieved any info packet regarding swift? Because I have just communicated with my recruiter via e-mail and have not recieved any packets or information through th email, he sent me a .pdf document regarding the rules & what I would need to bring for school.

    I will tell everybody what I told Rotten. You get your permit down here learn up in Millington and test down here at Swifts Ocala terminal using their equipment. If you are on any medications, ask for the clinic to see what you need to get it cleared. Tell them what you are on as this save you a trip home. When taking the permit tests, start out with Combination's, air brakes and General knowledge. In other words, take the shorter tests first. Do not stress over the permit testing if you have trouble. If you have any questions, please go ahead and ask.

    so if i'm on any meds I should bring a note with me to school or get it when we come back after school? Also how much of the school in Millington is classroom & what are the hours,etc...Basicley is there any down time or is it strict like military sun up to sun down

    According to the catalog the day starts # 5Am with a busride. You are supposed to be at the academy by 6 and it runs till 5 pm. You go the first 13 days straight with the first 3 in the classroom then to the range. You will get a course sent to you that you have 7 days to complete. There is a catalog in it that gives you a break down. The course is a video that is basically a brake down of the CDL manual. It helps with the CDL Test. You can't access the course till the recruiter sends you your password.

    I saw a a posting on San Antonio they don't go to school till 6:30. Maybe its that way at Millington. I hope so. Anyone out there know?
