I did it in Charlotte. They touched on alley docking. Training ..... about as well as the others. Good enough to get you to pass for the CDL. Basically they set up told you to try and be x feet away from the "wall" and commence to turning until you see X point on trailer and start getting back under it. Let you practice it a handful of times to get used to it . Amount of times you got to practice depended on group number, their competence, and when you were scheduled to test out.
As with everything else. The real training comes in the hard knocks of being out there and not having the pre measured distance there for you and obstacles that you have to get creative to get around.
Starting soon with SNI. Tips/Warnings?

Schneider didn't allow split breaks when I was there. An automatic dealbreaker knowing what I know now.
-
You're part of the reason the industry is where it is.
Because logging 5 hours of "sleeper time" while a forklift rams in and out of your trailer, makes you good to go.
Just SMHrollin coal, Kirby2023, lual and 1 other person Thank this. -

Packers lost, might want to lay low for a couple days until the city gets over it,,

Drivers choosing to use split sleeper berth must take at least eight hours in the sleeper berth and may split the sleeper berth time into two periods provided neither is less than two hours:

You're getting ripped off if you're driving team and only averaging 1,500 a week. You can do better than that even driving solo.
I think FFE would start you at 0.41 per mile, something like that. 5,000 miles a week is over 2k. And you would only be driving 2,500 of those miles.Freddy57 and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this. -
I talked to a bunch of their van guys, but i still like my tanker time.
I didn’t like, they required you to shave EVERY day.
I can shave in morning, by night i look like most do on a 3 day bender.
Actually got accused of “not shaving” once in Garden City GA, dude i went to their tank training with was an OSR and for him to ride with me for “winter training” he could not believe one’s beard grows back within same day after a razer.
I proved it the next day, shaved at tank wash(where their office was) before he left you could see and feel my beard growing back.
(Note)
On winter training he asked if i had brought in a tank with me, I said I did(gotta have BoL/SDS or wash cert showing clean on moving empty tankers, residue and all)
What i did not tell was I was loaded but not hazmat.
So he told me to unhook, park in front and wait.
He made me hook up and all their junk and then they ride with you,
I still had a 10 manual speed.
When we left, I took off easy, shifting made it about a mile to the red light, then dude said, “You can go faster, I want to see how you maneuver.”
Okay!
Off we went, shifting timing it out, when slapping seat for 6th, the surge pulled us back then hit forward, and he actually asked then If i was loaded.
He then only told which way to turn, around round abouts and everything.
We got back to terminal he didn’t do any more tests that day, so i got him back in the end.
Van guys can have a beard i guess to ankles, tankers they think you’ve gotta be clean shaven for that worthless respirator that i never did wear, pulled 6 years at another outfit they only asked if you went to a place to shave you would.Freddy57 Thanks this. -
Check at this thread I made about Schneider earlier this year:
My Brief Time at Schneider Bulk
I've heard that there are worse companies you can go with for training, so if all you're focused on right now is finding a company to get your CDL with, they might be right for you. With that said, I don't personally recommend them. My experience is that they're liars on so many levels. -
gentleroger and Freddy57 Thank this.
