So I'm starting tanker OTR in 2 weeks, very excited.
Will be a few weeks of training which I can ask about this more but....
I rarely see tankers parked out at pilots by me, never in rest areas (Leaving dryvan for good). Probably due to the obvious regulations if the tank isn't empty and washed its gota be secure etc.
Do tanker wash stops have showers ? I'm also required to shave "every day".
Since it's OTR tanker I dont have the option to shave at home daily lol. I would wager some customers let us sleep on their lot. I guess we dry shave in a pinch but ####.
Starting tanker OTR soon, sleep and shower question

Most Tank Washes have showers. Some might be clean, others will scar your mind for life

Showers won’t be a problem. I hauled hazmat tanker for six (6) years and never an issue. Once you yank tank you won’t go back !

Except for the tank surge beating up your back. Tank life isn't so bad. I went back to open deck as an OO. As I sit, I'm filthy from tarping.
Um I used to shower on my 30 minute break. Drive six hours, grab 80 gallons fuel, park, go in shower. Grab a soda, keep pushing. That's the other way to shower doing tankers.broke down plumber, Bud A., austinmike and 5 others Thank this. -
Electric razor.
Either wet shave at the truckstop sink (not recommended due to the foot washing) or wet shave in the shower sink.
Guys in the service told me about this product called "Magic Shave Powder". Doesn't need much water and you can "shave with a (literal) butter knife!"
Never tried it, though.Flat Earth Trucker, broke down plumber, Sons Hero and 6 others Thank this.
