As to home time that is good to hear. I HATE HATE HATE to ask for time off in first year. Especially 10 days. I am a dedicated person, and think it's unprofessional to ask for time off (except the occasional weekend). But with experience I've learned when starting a new job, if you have pre arranged plans like a $1200 paid for cruise to renew your wedding vows, as long as you tell them upon beginning your job it's usually not an issue. But if you wait until your hired and then say, oh by the way I need these dates off, it's just rude. But the recruiter said same thing. Just let them know, and try to work enough to "earn" the 10 days off. So, 60 days of work for my 10 days off, no problem. They do seem like a decent company to work for. Wife was making fun of my "Handle". I am "Bipolar" so I joke and say I am a bi-polarbear. So she says people gonna say I am a polar bear that swings both ways lol... Thinking I might need to change that. And it took me 2 hours to come up with too....Dang...
WOOT!!! Just found out, for every 50 gallons of gas at Pilot I get a free shower. I might actually smell good Otherwise $10... Hope it's Purified spring water for that price. Shoot, need to look up a YMCA or something
No, not quite...you get a free shower if you buy at least 50 gal of fuel at each fueling. You get the same deal at Loves, TA, Petro, and Flying J. You also get points for each dollar spent. Each point is usually worth a penny. I use mine for wifi at TA where it costs 450 points for 24hrs of internet.
Yeah he was saying 1.) 50 gallons = 1 shower, but then he was saying something about a rewards card and after 1,000 gallon you get a shower for up to 5 days, and 2,000 a shower up to 7 days. I'll have to read when I sign up for rewards card the specifics. But here is my question: How much gas for you put in an EMPTY tank, and how much gas do you normally put in when your "low". In other words, do you stop every 2 hours for gas, or how often do you stop for gas and how many gallons do you put in? I know I'll find out when I am driving, just curious. (and yes I know depends on tuck). But I am wondering estimate. ~50 ~100 ~200. Thanks in advance for reply.
I'll be there Sunday. And already passed physical and Got all medical stuff out of the way. All cleared and ready to go. You gonna be there still this upcoming week Brian?
I think it is $50 bucks for 5gb and $80 bucks for 10gb. I know I'm paying $50 bucks for the Verizon MiFi gadget. It is a credit card sized little hotspot that can broadcast to 5 devices at once. It's actually $9.95 cheaper than the other Verizon product I was using before that was preloaded on the notebook I use. Bonus, tell your tax guy you look at online maps to help you route your trips and you call your DM and customers sometimes, you can write off your entire cell phone bill. Generally these trucks get between 6 and 8 miles per gallon of diesel fuel. When you get your load assignment on the qualcomm, you will also receive a fuel route telling you the roads and freeways Swift wants you to use and the fuel stops Swift has opened up for you along the way. Sometimes it will say 'fillup' or take on 142 gallons. That's only good for one (1) shower. So look at what you have on board already, figure out how much you need today, and buy fuel accordingly. You can usually get by with a 65 or 75 gallon purchase daily. When you get down to 1/8th tanks of fuel on board, send a message that you are low on fuel and they will route you to get some, voila another shower. Do yourself a favor and don't be 2/8ths distance from the nearby fuel stop though, carry a booklet that shows all the trucks stops in North America.
