I love watching the stock market. It’s come to be a hobby of mine. I’m more of a long-term investor so being available when the market is open is not an issue for me. I can place orders after hours and the next day it’s magically there. It’s been a great year for people like us.

I do it. I swing trade, some I keep a few days, some a few months. I get in long line ups at times 1-2 hours, all on duty, so it helps to pass the time. I keep an eye on things daily, but I don’t watch it constantly.
Strictly day trading would be next to impossible in this line of work. -

Everything can be done on the phone now, set your alerts abs pull over if you have to,
you will have either a half hour during on duty or 10 hours while off to mess with it -
This OP has not been active (in this persona??) since April of 2018. I stand behind what I wrote before and would also like to add something else about the HOS rules! I sometimes either called my broker or had said broker call me about my portfolio when I was an active driver! Many times I made trades or bought/sold securities while sitting in a terminal or a dock somewhere. I even did this while on hometime. I was also making money in the process. The comment that was made about on-duty is one of those comments that are only "technically" correct. There is no way for anything like this to be accountable unless the driver is stupid enough to tell a DOT officer running their HOS records. There is no real difference between me sitting in my truck or at home surfing the web and doing day trading as it relates to my getting proper rest. The main thing, however, is to get some rest. Driving a truck can be very stressful and if done correctly is mentally exhausting. That rest period is one of the most important things you will get as a person driving a CMV!
