So I'm in the last week of Schneiders Bulk training program and I've come to the conclusion I honestly hate tankers and have no desire to drive them by myself.

And at this point I don't know what to do. I'm close to finishing up training (SQT) is on Wednesday and so far the company's I've called either said my work history isnt good enough (Prime) or that I dont have enough experience yet (JB Hunt, Crete).

Do I finish up and grit my teeth for a few months until one of the other companies will take me or search for another Van company that will have work I will actually enjoy. If it helps I'm 22 in South LA, St. Landry/Lafayette Parish area.

Dry van or reefer ok with you. Let us know. There's some outfits that will hire you.
How much driving experience do you have or are you right out of school?

I got out of school the first week in April and joined the Scheider program in late Arpil so I'm about 2 months out.

Van or Reefer would probably be my preferred honestly, I listed Crete above but I'm actually more intrested in Shaffer which I think is like a sister company. I'm also fine with leaving the state, I would prefer it honestly because outside of a 1 week trip to houston everything has been in the Baton Rogue area which seems crazy for an OTR position

The pumpkin has many divisions. You could probably ask to run dry van or pull containers if you wanted. As long as they want to keep you I doubt they would squawk too much about switching.

Why leave tanker? There's such less crap for receivers to give you

Submit applications then follow up with a phone call tomorrow.
It's best this way. Call and say, "I'm checking on my job application."

What my I ask is wrong with tankers?
Just hang with it and in the end the money you can make is almost stealing

    What he said.....
You don't have to jump. They need drivers everywhere.

Theres nothing wrong with Tankers I just don't enjoy it and it's getting harder for me to see a future with it. I wasn't super excited for the program to begin with and it's only gotten more frustrating since the start.

I understand by leaving it I would be making a financial mistake long term but that doesnt bother me because I never planned on staying more than 5 to 6 years in the industry to begin with
