Unless your hauling logs not a practical rack. Since a long logger can haul 52,000 the extra tare weight isn't too important.

 

With the price of lumber right now...surprised there weren't a bunch of pickup's with utility trailers volunteering to help clean up the road for him

Almost certain they were rolled up on winches. When I hauled flatbed, I kept the straps inside the cab. They last longer. Second, that type of lumber will walk on you before you know. He couldn't have had enough securement, nor did he do a load check.

 

That kind of lumber, he need to have crossed two 2in straps on the front, and back. He had no resistance in the front whatsoever. I do think there is a possibility that there could have been a hard break, though.
