Well this sucks. MS has posted on their website that they have discontinued S&T. I've been using the $100 2007 version on my net book forever. 500+ PU and del points, low clearances, routes parking spots etc flushed down the toilet. I am looking for a new software
MUST HAVE:
Must be able to click and drag to chose the route that I want (i.e. the route that is dictated to me on my oversize permit).
Must work on a net book.
Question 1: Does co-Pilot have the above features?
Question 2: Has anyone used Co-Pilot in Canada? Are the Canadian maps any good?
Question 3: If I download it from the website, where does it get its' GPS signal from?
Streets and Trips discontinued -> Co-Pilot

I have used S&T since 2003 I think. Nothing else around has its features that I know of. My big thing with S&T is that I can store & save locations like my stops. The previous job I had, I probably had 300 customers & some I may not go to but maybe once a year. easy to save those locations & when I get ready to go back, just go to the data base, click on the name & it loads it. I know exactly where it is.
Tom Tom (I think) did this kinda sorta, but you couldnt save the file with your choice of names. It gave it a number or something, I dont remember exactly but, there was no way to relate the save to the business a year later. Anyway, S&T has so many features just like that, that no other GPS/mapping software offers. It has soooo many features. I have looked at many different mapping software & nothing is comparable to S&T.
At one time, some company made an overlay software for S&T that was for truckers. I never used it though. -
Did they give a date they are shutting it down? Would like to get one more update before they do if I can.

No more support as of June 2015 I think it said. I tried to download the latest version but no luck
-
however, when my previous laptop took a dump, i thought i would never ever have anything close to streets and trips
google maps and mapquest has done wonders for me since then and its free (i look out for my own clearances and no truck routes) its a map, not a gps
i never liked the S&T gps feature, but always loved the mapping, it was great
i do miss the ease of use that S&T provided, but my tablet and googlemaps outdoes any gps i have ever seen and its FREE -
i never used s&t. way too much bs and what not. too complicated.
i use copilot. it's plain and simple. and you can save your addresses. it's called MY FAVORITES.
like s&t. you need a gps receiver or transmitter. that's how it gets it's gps. in the same manner as s&t.
if your clever, like me. i use a bluetooth dongle. $7 from amazon. and my phone as a bluetooth transmitter. using the free app called symartctic extgps.
the only problem with copilot. is you have to download the program, unzip it into another folder. look for the executeable folder, unzip that. then installation proceeds. or something to that effect. been awhile since i had to install it. somebody wasn't smart for whatever reason.
plus the cost. same price was the phone app.
there's also no updated version. as they've discontinued it.
i think s&t was already discontinued. someone posted this exact dillema a few months back. -
I have co-pilot on my tablet and phone...updated a month ago. I paid the $10 subscription so I could have turn by turn. There are Canadian maps available. Since both my tablet and my phone have a gps receiver, it works just like a gps. There is even a $150 version just for trucks with truck routing. As for customization of routes, the version I have has via points just like a dedicated gps unit. I have gone thru 3 gps units in the last year. I like google maps but I don't like the fact that it doesn't always offer the route I choose. It gives you a choice, but not always the one I pick. So I have co-pilot as a backup.(not that I rely on a gps that much, it just helps make sure my route isn't over what the company allows us to be over since we are paid by the hub)

i'll say this, i'm really starting to hate the updated copilot. this weekend i might delete the maps from my phone and install the old maps i saved on my computer.
it's routing is starting to suck like another brand i hated. salt lake to phoenix for example, used to route me down the 15 freeway to the 20 to the 89. now it takes me down a state road 50 to 89. -
Interstates
Divided highways
Primary roads
Secondary roads
Local streets
Routing (practical or shortest)
Is "National Network" checked?
Is "53 ft trailer" checked?
I ask because if it did a recent update, I am wondering if it changed any of your default vehicle or routing (road type) preferences during the process.
