They will hire you more easily. If you have a hazmat written passed in school.
Then after, you get out. Get the background check (fingerprinted). If you flunk then you can not be fired. Since they already hired you.

If you have never been fingerprinted, then I would not get it. That will lower the chances of you ever going to prison. :biggrin_255:

I live in Alabama as well and was told by roadmasters that the only school near by is Arkansas and first week will have many companies there to sign you up. By third week I would be hired by a company of my choosing. This was not the case with you?

First off I live in Dothan area. Closes school for me was Jacksonville FL or Chattanooga TN. I chose TN. Roadmaster has a job placement guarantee for life as long as u don't make them look bad. Only thing with TN is the are on Covenant property and really push u for them which runs teams. I am doing my own recruiting just staying on internet finding what I think is best for me. The instructor I have for this week and next is from Arkansas school. Not sure how u getting cdl from Arkansas would work but do know u have to get it in Alabama. TN school takes u to TN GA or Al for the actual cdl skills test. U have to drive to get permit urself first Friday u r here so would recommend studying and getting ur class a permit before u come. After here u can go on roadmaster web site and see all companies that they deal with and apply urself and get preview sent to school go from there.

Oh, am I understanding this correctly. I have to have a permit for my cdl. Like a learners permit??? If one does not have one you have to drive back to your state to get it that first Friday??? I was not even told about the job placement for life. I am in Florence Alabama

Stevens training is 8 to 12 weeks, all depends on you, then you are solo. No riders for the first year.

Here is run down in Chattanooga. They put u in hotel right across street for three weeks ur here. U can go home on weekend or stay. If u stay u pay for Friday night and Saturday night 40 a night. Hotel is decent no Hilton though. First week is al classroom. First day physical and urine test for dot. then class rest of week is class on cdl manual. 7-6 long days. Then Friday they let u go to ur state and take cdl test for air brakes general knowledge and combination. Then next two weeks u get to drive if u pass cdl test and get permit like a learners license. Then once u get permit u set up a test date to take skill and road test. U can go to Huntsville $20 plus 53.50 or u can do a third party instructor for road and skill for $150 plus 53.50. Learners permit is 25 for exam and 23.50 for licence out ur pocket.
