Used to be 90/ton or $2340, that was before covid, went to 110-115/ton then.
I said not at that rate, they had two do them.
I DHed 120 miles home.
The 1000 flat rate didn’t even make $2/ mile for specialty loadOLDSKOOLERnWV, JoeyJunk, Deere hunter and 6 others Thank this. -

One of the guys, when I went to trucking school at the community college, was actually already an owner-op with 2 trucks, but he was there to get his CDL officially so he could drive along with the driver he employed. That was a year ago, so that was when the market was hot, comparatively.
Wonder how he's doing now...JoeyJunk, Keepforgettingmypassword, TheLoadOut and 1 other person Thank this. -

With this article, people are still making money and many more are trying to get into the game for the easy money.
why would that be if we are in a depressed market?Keepforgettingmypassword, TheLoadOut and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
It’s a crazy time. More Trucks than freight for sure. Yet plenty of Loads posted. Anything decent is gone quick. The Load I’m on now, Broker said he refused 30 prior offers. All were Bogus, posing as Carriers. Trying to double broker the freight, and Rob both parties. Fraud is rampant. Carriers have to be careful who they book with also. Make sure the Brokers Legit. The Scammers are sophisticated, using Forged Documents posing as Legit Operators. Carriers and Brokers alike. Good time to forge solid relationships. I’m being very careful myself. This morning I booked a load coming back. I’d left a message. They’re a Legit Company, been around forever. They responded by text, claiming that phones were down. Seemed suspicious. I eventually was convinced and we set up everything through RMIS. So it’s all good. I’ve never seen such a big difference in extremes. Brokers are either very appreciative, or just the opposite. Hopefully the best will survive and improve the Industry. So many corrupt people involved these days. From anywhere in the world, using phone numbers routed through location in the USA. You never know who your really dealing with. Have to be careful.

The first time, I said to the guy, "Okay, I'll call you guys back to speak to someone in English."
He replied, "FrUCK you and your English!" And hung up.
The most recent one was two days ago. After he finished his eloquent little speech, I said: "I know you're not from Bank of America."
He started stammering and hung up.JoeyJunk, Siinman, TheLoadOut and 2 others Thank this.
