    My best brain fart???

LOL! I forgot to check my mirrors while moving trailers on the yard... and things were moving constantly there... I backed a high deck flatbed into a cage trailer.... knocked the cage right off the trailer... OOPS! And all the boss did was laugh about it! (The man was WARPED!)

after having my brain melt from putting the trailer into a tight spot with limited swing room. doing just about everything while cussing about the lack of space between trailers. i got back into the truck, drove forward, and felt, and heard something breaking. i drove to the trailer i was to hook up to, and then realized i had pulled out the red, blue, and electrical lines. yes, i felt like a freaking idiot.

We've had guys slide 9,000lb paper rolls like that. Not pretty when it happens.

Well, here's just one of mine.

Got lost outside of Walthoursville GA. Rolled up to the main gate of the Army Rangers training center in a liquid tanker placarded with "explosive" placards. Oh yeah, the date? 9/13 after the WTC bombing.

Had a lot of guns pointed at me and a lot of questions to answer. Luckily I was empty, but they called some special team to come verify that I was empty and search the truck thoroughly. Not a good idea at that particular point in time.:biggrin_25523:

    Enjoy

Had dropped an empty at a paperplant and was in a hurry, real quick dropped the legs, pulled the pin and started to drive away. Yeah, I had forgotten to un hook my glad hands. got lucky though, went about 25 feet and then remembered and just then the electrical cable jumped out of the socket on the trailer and put a nice little dent in the back of my bunk. Wife thought it was hilarious, I was slightly embarrased, first dent in my big shiny petercar.

When I was in the dumb and dumber program my partner had to make a hard backup move to the dock on a very busy 2 lane road. I offered twice to spot him and with his stubbern additude he said no and and told me to get the paper work in the office. Less than 5 minutes later he comes walking into the office and I said you did that quick good job. He throws up his arms and says no I backed over a fire hydrant and needs to call the police. I grabbed my head and said you have a gyser going on out there as I ran out the door. The hydrant was dry and to find out it happens a few times a year when the city workers came out to pick it up.

I earned my "cone killer" nickname the easy way. While in driving school, it was 3 of us and the instructor. I was #1 behind the wheel, coming up 6 lane (3 lanes each side with a median) street he tells me to turn right.

Well, they were doing construction at the intersection, I hit my right turnsignal, waited for an opening, and swung wide to the left for my right turn. I then promptly ran over two of the metal horse style construction signs, an orange barrel, two cones, 8 ft of fresh concrete, and sent 10 construction workers diving for cover. My fellow students in the sleeper watched it unfold in the mirror and started to bust out laughing, the instructor, who I believe taught Moses how to drive, cussed me out for 15 minutes, beat the hell out of my arm, and wrote me a horrible review, the construction workers were throwing tools at the trailer as I pulled away.

Thankfully I redeemed myself two days later on our mtn. driving day. The fog was so thick at times we couldn't see the hood ornament (it was old frieghtshaker) or the back of the trailer, I was doing 5mph with my hazards on. The instructor and I were both hunched up to the windshield, looking for things. When we finally cleared the fog, I had a parade of 40 cars behind me, none flipped me off as they went by, I got mostly friendly waves. The instructor had me pull over and stop so we could both stretch, unwind our nerves and relax. He gave me a glowing review with a perfect score for that day (I was the only student to get a perfect score on any of the drive days) and some serious kudo's. The two other students were sound asleep in the sleeper seats and never saw a thing.

I have to alley dock back into my house (yard/lot)

Big brick gate for the neighbor across the street and I have to keep it tight to the side because I have another truck on the other side and when I leave the trailer offtracks of course and almost hits the other pole (dead end street)

but hey, it's the same park every time.
    Hit your markers and turn.

    easy
    right?

yeah, one day not long after getting the truck (my first, no company driving for me, I have to do/learn everything the hard way)
Long day at work, come here, swing in, not really watching because "hey, I know how to do this I've hit my marks and I'm tired and I'm just a pro now that i've done this like 20 times"
    I hear a scratching sound.
    WTH is that sound?
I finally stop and look out the window.

Hey, why is that fence post all crooked?
ohhhh, I'm over too far and I'm pushing the fence post back with the trailer.

yes, I hit my own fence post. :biggrin_2554:

Luckily have a skid steer, I straightened that sucker right up. It's only crooked if you look at it from one angle. :yes2557:
