    The eye of the storm....

Okay, this story just has to be told!!

One of the companies my husband has worked with runs cotton modules. In case you don't know, they are alot like the flatbed car carriers...

A couple of years ago, right after a week of really good rain, dispatch sent several drivers out to retrieve cotton bales...

The older driver tells the new guys, "I'll lead. You stay in my tracks, and whatever you do, don't get off in the field!'

For whatever reason, the brand new driver decided to take off from the other drivers and cut across the field to grab this one bale of cotton!!

He sunk that truck to the bottom of the bed in mud! And then to make matters worse, he suddenly HAD to pee!! Instead of staying inside the truck, and finding another solution, the MORON got out of the truck!!!

Luckily, his phone was within in reach and the old driver could see his lights. But he was sunk waist-deep in mud, and it took 4 firefighters and a couple of other drivers to get the guy out..

The truck sat in that mud hole for almost two weeks before they could get it out, and even then, it took two wreckers almost 5 hours!

    The Challenger Thanks this.

My husband was one of the other drivers who helped get this goofball out of the mud. He came home so filthy dirty and wet and muddy... looked like a pig that had just got finished playing in a mudhole... and I have never seen him laugh quite so much!

I don't know if this would count as a rookie move since I ain't even considered a rookie.....Wannabee rookie maybe?

Buddy of mine came over with his GF(they are a good 15 years older than me.) and both of us are heavy into military vehicles. So he parked out back and open the gate for them to walk in.I go to fire up my army truck from the ground and forget to check the shifter.Fired that puppy up in 2nd high range.Took off.Ran over my 20 ton bottle jack, hit the gate and I managed to calm down enough to pull the kill handle about 5 feet from his Ford Rangers bed broad side.I still catch hell for that stupid move.......

Now for a couple of his.I was following him to a rally one year over in Georgia.Came up on a green light after we jumped off I20 I think.Well, right when he gets 50 feet from the line it turns yellow.Mind you we are in 40 year old army trucks with Air over Hydrolic 6 wheel drums. He slams on his brakes just as I slam down my loud pedal.I managed to locked down and stop about a foot from his back door.Tell ya what.10 old bias ply tires sound wild locked down.

Another on the same trip next day.We leave a buddies house where we slept and head to the rally.Stop in a store to get some fuel.station is still closed so he goes to turn around and back dead center into the station sign knocking every letter off of it.Luckly it didn't knock the sign down.

Same guy different truck. He managed to drive though the zig zags at the local army base where he worked for over a year. One day he had a brain fart and managed to zig when he should have Zagged.Rear tire and bed hit the pole.Hit so hard it blew the tire out...

Same truck and same guy.....we came back to his house from somewhere and he pulled over to the mail box passenger side so I could get the junk mail.Well, grabbed, closed and when he proceeded into the driveway he cut it hard right.......mailbox hit between teh bed and cab.Duhh....Needless to say....we call him Murphy......Cause if it can go wrong it will go wrong with him!

Next one is not a funny one.Down right scary. He borrowed my towbar to go to mississippi gulf coast and pick up a couple trucks.Instead of buying the good pins at tractor supply for 10 bucks he stole some 1" ball detent pins from work to hook the bar to the front bumper.Somewhere on the interstate just past the bama state line one pin totally fell out and the trailing truck swung hard left into the passing lane.He managed to get it back under control and some idiot decided to try and pass him that had seen teh whole thing.Right when the truck made another mad dash for the ditch.Luckly they got it off to the side of the road.Managed to crush the exhaust stack located behind the passenger front tire in the fender nearly flat and beat the fender up pretty good with the lose leg.Luckly it didn't go through the radiator or roll both rigs over.Pretty much ruined the tow bar.Bend the 3" solid bar end and the pivot end was bent and cracked from stretching. Also bent the stolen 1" pin.

Then this one was with the same guy but wasn't our fault. We both bought some vehicles in Little rock Arkansas. He got 4 I got 1.We drove out there to get them.He was driving my truck back with a deuce on a towbar behind him(he took my truck and I took his after it started to overheat and I am more of a gauge hawk!)We make it from little rock through those idiots in memphis and midway across mississippi after dark in the rain.About that time some idiot in a lil red sunfire comes flying around me on a 2 lane road at around 70.Doesn't notice the 2 red lights ahead of me are actually tow lights on another slow ### deuce.About a foot from the rear axle he notices and I see red.....then dark.....then white.......then dark......then red.......and dark again.....The moron jerked the wheel and spun out in front of me.He stopped broad side across both lanes.I had a ford ranger in the bed beating the back of the cab so I just let go of the loud pedal and grabbed 4th to slow down.I was either going over or through cause I wasnt' going to slam on the brake and put myself upside down with a ranger on my head in a ditch. To this day I can still see his face as he grabbed reverse and backed it off into the ditch.Full beard short.Dark brown hair, about 160lbs,5 foot 10 inches give or take.Amazing what you can remember when your scared crapless!
