My father's been truck-free for about 8 years. Sold his almost brand new truck and older trailer to go run heavy equipment. He says its much less headache, better pay and he has more time off. He's almost retired now so I don't think he'll be back behind the wheel again.

You could call it TA....oh wait, that one is taken..I thought they already have a program that helps get O/O's out of the business? I thought it was called the ATA (a.k.a the anti trucker association)

Worked in IT for about 8 years before I got into trucking. Had a few industry certifications (A+ & MCSE) but no degree. Did trucking for almost 10 years and after I was laid off from my most recent trucking job, I decided to get back into the IT field, except this time I was getting a degree behind me. Enrolled at the University of New Mexico (UNM) last semester and I've also landed a job in the IT field as well.

Anyway, some people really enjoy the trucking lifestyle and would rather do that than anything else while others, like myself, view it as just a job. I've always liked computers and technology so I would rather sit behind a desk surrounded by equipment, testing software, designing and implementing LAN's, and stuff like that. For some people, they would absolutely hate a job like that.
