I live about an hour from you. I could look at it or you could contact Rand Support for an RMA. They will ask for a receipt.

Thanks,
Mark

Just a quickie update on the performace of my refurbed 500:

Working beautifully. Recalculates routes quickly. It has frozen a couple of times since I got it three weeks ago, but resets easily and quite fast. Resets have been needed seemingly only after I'm punching in info and try to change my mind too quickly. Then it just looks at me like my cat when I forget to feed him and does nothing. Volume is good, graphics are fine, and overall is a breeze to use. I paid $140 directly through RM's website.

Thanks to all for the input, and especially to Mark for his expertise and recommendations.

(As an aside, I get a kick out of how "she" says certain things....like "aggzit" for "exit", and the city of Kankakee sounds like "Can Cookie".

Yes, but the speaker has to have it's own power (Self Powered) - ie internal batteries or plugs into DC in the truck. Like the kind you buy for laptops.

Thanks,

I am downloading the new dock and install it successfully on Windows 7 Home Premium x64 with Framework 4.0 and I am finding I cannot open the dock screen. I run it, it detects my 510 TND, then says "The Rand Mcnally dock is initializing and will be ready in a few seconds" then it opens an icon on the lower right that shows my TND510 is connected but never opens the Dock. Im at a loss on what to do to get the dock screen up and running, the old dock worked fine.

I am supply a copy of the E-Mail I send you here.

I would suggest you go to your control panel and then to programs and features. This should bring you to the “uninstall” window. Scroll down and find the Rand McNally TND Dock and uninstall it.

Also scroll down and under the MicroSoft updates make sure you have .net Framework version 3.5 minimum.

You can reinstall the Dock from here.

Dock

http://www.randmcnally.com/support/download-dock-software.jsp

.net Framework

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=21

Make sure when you install the Dock you have the TND connected and on.

Thanks,
Mark

No dice on that boss. I uninstalled the old dock and the new dock. Re-installed .net Framework Version 4.0 for X64, re-installed the new dock, and having the same issue, just getting the splash screen of initializing the dock, then nothing.

Make sure .net is "on" in services.

Go to Control Panel  Programs  Programs and Features
Click "Turn Windows features on or off"
The feature
Microsoft .Net Framework x.x.x should be turned ON. The sub features may be turned OFF.

Thanks,
Mark
