I respectfully submit that someone get a hold of Navteq and explain the concept of direction. Something any first year rookie driver knows.

Update on my refurbed model 500: Still working well. Need for resets has virtually disappeared. In fact, I now suspect my previous "issue" with resets may have been my own haste in thinking it needed one, at least sometimes. It still does what I need it to do...act as a guide, not hold my hand.

Although, I did screw up the other day. I had the sound off. Just bopping along to my tunes when I look up and see it recalculating. Yup. Drove right by my exit.....goes to show how easily you can become dependent on these things, even sub- or unconsciously.

I emailed you, However the problem im having is connecting my 720 to my WIFI Hotspot when it is PASSWORD Protected, It will not recognize the Password, Constantly says invalid or cannot connect, But when i remove password and leave it OPEN, it will then connect... I need to be able to connect and leave my Hot Spot Password protected. Any help would be appreciated.

I replied this morning. What are you using for your Hotspot?

Are you using lower case in your pw? If so, on the qwerty keyboard look in the bottom left and you will see "abc" in blue. Click on this to go to lower case.

    Thanks,
    Mark

For those that use the TND-720. Be sure you turn the TND 720 off/on every couple of days. Using WiFi/Weather and traffic (if you have the traffic receiver) will fill up memory fast.

If you get a low memory message just turn it off, wait 10 seconds and turn it on again. You should be fine.

    Thanks,

The New 720 says on its box "Enhanced Truck Routing" (I believe). Is the routing updated/upgraded on the 720 compared to the 510? Does it have an updated database for addresses and mapping and POIs compared to the 510?

Mark I know you don't have much to do with when they release products. I will say that I am kinda Pissed that that the map updates are not out yet. Its seems that they are more about getting people to new hardware then support on products that are out. The reason I bought the product it had a way to report mistakes in the mapping and with so many drivers out there it would be a great data base so it would put drivers on less restricted roads. That being said if it a year or more to have maps corrected that's not good. My 510 that I bought last year will more then likely will be my last gps I will buy from Rand.

Many factors go into play before Rand will release a mapset. Rand does test the new Mapset for several months running many routes we know as test cases. Rand goes over each Tell Rand and looks at the route issue and makes sure it is in place. If the suggestion did not make it then Rand will resubmit back to NavTeq. The Beta Testers run the new MapSet for several months and as corrections are found they are inputted to the database. Sometimes several compiles are done before a MapSet is ready. Then QA has to test the Mapset.

Now if some remembered a few years back Rand pushed a Map Update via the Dock. Some it worked and some it did not. Rand is going to push this Mapset via the Dock again. This requires testing. Since some have not gotten LTM or would need to purchase the Mapset then a system for them to buy the Mapset and be issued a "key" to enter into the Dock. Understanding that not everyone would be at home trying to download the new Mapset Rand has to look at if they get a partial download, how to continue the download again.

A lot of factors go into place before a item as important as a Mapset is released. It is due out soon. I do not have a firm date yet. But, it is highly suggested you be in a position to be able to download on Highspeed internet or 4G and be able to sit for about 10 hours if if you are on the road. This is about a 2.8 gb download.

    Thanks,
    Mark
