Mark, I really need a permanent fix for this:
My Dock software will not start. Again. Latest version, Windows 7. Uninstalled, deleted all registry entries I could find, deleted the program directory, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted again and it STILL will not start. Click on the Dock software in the start menu, cursor changes to the vortex, and then... nothing. Same when selecting 'Run as administrator'.
I need to get my logs off the device ASAP. This is getting really annoying. -
I use the TND routing as a rough estimate or to calculate a quick detour around a backup. Always change the shortest/fastest, tollway / no tollway and prefer /avoid freeways and compare the routes. Many times the tollway routes are longer, and the 'shortest route' is actually faster than the 'fastest route'. The routes that I actually drive are frequently a little different than what the GPS wants.double yellow Thanks this. -
I will also need to know what model and version you are on.
Without know what roads you have set to avoid, what truck settings, map settings, route settings I cannot duplicate your issue 100%.
Just because another GPS company picks a different route does not mean the TND is flawed. Each company has their own algorithm's that they use and they are restricted to that company, meaning they are considered proprietary. They also extract Map data differently. Is your GPS using NavTeq or TeleAtlas map data? Both are different in that the map segments have different data.
You may route to a location and then a few miles down the road pick the same location again and route to it. The route may or may not change based upon your physical location and how the routers select the route.
RM does go an extra step and "massages" the map data with our own truck restriction data which RM does not share. It is RM Proprietary data.
You are comparing one product to another product. Both are different and will give different routes.
Thanks,
Mark -
You might also go "back" in time and reset your computer to a past date that you knew the Dock was working.
Normally when the Dock is "stuck" in the install another MSI install is preventing any new installs.
Look under Uninstall programs and get rid of anything that you do not need.
Shut down any anti-Virus programs. I have seen them stop an install of the Dock also.
Thanks,

Hello,
This is my first try at this. I have a problem getting my Windows 7 computer to connect to my new/used TND 700 and I can't install the Dock installer. It comes back with a code 43. I don't know what is code 43, can anyone help ? -
The USB driver is part of the MS operating system. The TND does not contain the drivers.
You might try the following.
Power settings on High.
Use the RM USB cable, as other cables may not allow connection.
With the TND connected to the computer and the TND off, turn on the TND.
With the TND on, reboot the computer.
Try Different USB ports. Some computers come with 3.0 ports and also 2.0 ports.
Thanks,
Mark -
