First, thanks for all the effort you've put into this thread, Mark. There is a lot of good info here. I'll try to slog through it as time permits.
I just bought a TND 700, and haven't even connected it to my laptop yet (I'm posting with my phone). Is there a website with more detailed instructions and info? I have some noob questions that Google couldn't answer, like:
Is it possible to save/share POI files?
Is there some way to transfer my "Favorites" from a Garmin? I've put a lot of time into them, and I really hate to lose them.
Specific steps for backup/restore, etc.
I understand a more in-depth manual is installed when I hook up to my laptop, and I'm not asking you to rewrite it here, if these questions are already addressed in the manual. I should be able to check into a hotel today (out of hours) and do some more poking and prodding on this thing.![]()

First two - no, not at this time.
third. - On the TND Dock, top row, 2nd from the left... is a backup\restore. I recommend the first time you do a full backup.

"Buy first, research later". That's my motto.
Also, I immediately lost my receipt. Then I saw during the registration process that I need it for any warranty work. So far, I'm batting 1,000 on this one. -
Mark,
We have been using the heck out of this TND 700. We really love it and it has been very helpful. We have noticed a few issues and I was wondering if this might be something addressed in the future. In major intersections sometimes it does not tell you what lane or turn until the very last minute, by this time you cannot possibly get your truck into the right lane. The one instance I can remember is going through St. Louis, it said at the very last minute to get on I-44west. I mean we were right on it. Another issue we have noticed is with roads in Texas, the access roads seem to really confuse the GPS. One instance I can think of is in Wichita Falls, Tx. The Flying J is not accessable when coming from the 283south, however the system will "think" you are on the access road, but direct you incorrectly. Is this something that might be updated in the future. Something else I'd love to see is the ability to choose a route, as I stated in another thread, we do heavy haul and the routing can be hard because we have to go the route the state tells us. -
thanks,
Mark -
if you have any issues just contact me.
Thanks,
Mark -
Just out of curiosity, what is the latest model of the 700. I currently have the T7E.

Thanks,

Due to slight issues getting the new version through QA the release scheduled for 9/17 is going to be pushed towards the latter part of Sept.
Rand has been testing this latest version that is to be released and some issues have come up that need to be resolved in the code first. I know everyone has been waiting for it, but Rand wanted to make sure the released version is not going to cause issues with you and your routing navigation.
Thanks,
Markmrtrdrvr and Dieselboss Thank this. -
oh darn, tell me the maps will still be ready on the 17th. going home on the 21st
