"Old Dominion was fourth overall for the second year in a row. Daylight Transport, Averitt Express and Midwest Motor Express, which was acquired by Knight-Swift Transportation (NYSE: KNX) last year, rounded out the overall top five.

The top 5 for national carriers included Estes, ArcBest (NASDAQ: ARCB), Saia (NASDAQ: SAIA) and FedEx Freight (NYSE: FDX), in that order behind Old Dominion."

How did Yellow (YRC) not make the list?!? That company should be right up there under the Fortune 500 most admired companies for their exceptional leadership and capability to generate revenue.

    I call shenanigans!

Its been said before, Some "top" LTL Companies are making money on not paying Drivers Fair wages For OT and Breakdown.
Do your research... you will thank yourself.

Another thing to add, ask if they are paying 1/52nd for vacation pay or regular rate for Linehaul. Yet another place these so called "Top" LTL carriers are taking from the employees. 1/52nd used to be an LTL industry standard for Linehaul.

They are only at the top for the Management and CEOs. Don't be fooled by the Steaks and hot dogs, and "Spirit Week"... wasn't it suppose to be Driver Appreciation Week?

These are results of a survey of shippers and decision makers. ODFL is at the top in customer satisfaction. There is something to be said for working at a company with a reputation you can be proud of. I hear what you're saying tho. Plenty of ways to cut corners that drivers don't even realize half the time.

Another thing to add, 3 of the top 5 i have yet to see out west. So this list Has to be a regional thing. How many of the 1600 top shippers are out west?

And pride only goes so far. Especially when you are coming up on your 50th hour of straight time and the guy at the dock next to you, doing the exact same thing as you in LTL, was on overtime 10 hours ago.

These great companies and CEOs/Management, would love to automate everything if they can. And believe me, they are trying hard to take the human side out of this industry.

The Bachelors Degree is the new HS Diploma.

I've seen all of those carriers out West with the exception of ArcBest which I never heard of.

If that is what it means, it is most definitely in the west.

Averitt? Midwest Motor Express? Peninsula? And Only Seen Daylight trailers pulled by contractors. So, Yeah... i repeat. They are not top LTL carriers, at best they are regional, or interline.
