This is going to take a long time. Probably a year or more.

What would be more convincing than his friends saying he speaks English is a presser where the driver speaks clear and cogent sentences in English when asked questions by reporters. And reads aloud what the signs say that people are holding up for him. Like "RUNAWAY TRUCK RAMP KEEP RIGHT."

I notice too that they are claiming the brakes failed "moments before" the wreck. So it only took "moments" for his truck to get up to 85 mph? And what's the explanation for the way he was driving when he decided to swerve away from the ramp, if his brakes hadn't failed by that point?

I would have impounded the truck and ripped it apart. Not sure why they didn’t do that.

Prison is the traditional way our system deals with negligence that results in death. It doesn't matter if you kill them with a truck or a gun or a knife or build a building that falls over. It can be totally accidental and it's still manslaughter and you can still go to jail for it.

He was negligent. He didn't use the proper amount of care when operating a large vehicle. When he lost control, he did not take the correct actions to avoid injuring and killing people.

I would probably see this a lot differently if there wasn't video of him swerving away from the runaway ramp. Seriously, do any of you who think he doesn't deserve prison think that you would have swerved away from the runaway ramp if you were running fully loaded down a 6% grade and your brakes had failed?

It practically burnt to the ground. Im sure its still sitting at the recovery teams yard. I don't remember if it was a regular officer or one of the accident investigators that said that the fire caused so much damage they can't verify one way or another about the brakes.

The swerving away from the ramp is what makes me call it intentional, that's a very intentional act and stops just short of being premeditated if you ask me. I dont care if he can't read a word of English, anybody who's rode a bike downhill into a sand box should be able to see what a runaway truck ramp is for.

Dispatch loves a call in the middle of the night to reschedule.

One farm we pull out of counts on our empty tank being there at the right moment because all milk is pumped directly from the cows to the tanker.

Your other post you said you had to drive tired because elogs wouldn't let you stop for a nap and this post shows without any HOS you would still need to drive tired to take care of the cows.
    I see a pattern here,,,,,,,,,,,,

Yes. Clearly, regulations need to be written to get cows to conform to milking times within available HOS.

Clearly , the HOS guarantee a driver will have time off each day to rest, but HOS or no HOS, every driver will drive tired from time to time, either because we need to or because we want to.
And 10 hours off every day is so great.
