You have $40K coming? $22K will get you a truck comparable to the "refurbished" Freightliners Swift is selling for $25K. And you can get a national warranty. Just have the truck DOT'd and approved in writing by Swift before you buy it.
Get away from this loser. No sense going into any maintenance crap with this dummy. He hasn't maintained the truck and it is going to get expensive fast. Just be a driver and not a "partner."otherhalftw, Injun, scottied67 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Anyway checked it again as he's in the truck stop and now it's only showing halfway up on the crosshatch so I figure another gallon to get it up to full after only about 10,000 miles.
A little background-- I was this guy's student on this truck last spring 2010. At that time Itold him his dipstick was dry one day. So we put in a gallon of oil. Still dry. So he bought 2 more gallons and I put them in and it was then full. A few days later of hard driving it was low again and I told him about it. He said don't worry about it because he had a B service coming up in a week. That is why I didn't tell him I put oil in because he likes this special oil that the truck stop had sold out of. I was trying to avoid an argument by just taking care of what needs taking care of-- we got into it yesterday about split breaking because he was finishing his 34 on the truck and I had driven 10.25 hours to get to the consignee early, took 8 hours off til they opened, dropped/hooked and told him I only have .75 hours left to drive-- he said I have 2 hours left. We went back and forth like this for an hour he finally called another mentor friend of his to explain it to me lol. -
Scottied67, I've been following your attempt to become a "fleet owner" of a fleet of lease trucks and shaking my head in amazement that anyone is naive enough to listen to a guy who wants a handshake agreement. How about you and I do a handshake agreement? Send 10% of your income as I need an overhaul.
scottied67 Thanks this. -
also sounds like you might be throwing oil away--no need to fill it up to the top,as long as it is above add its good to go--on a detroit--if there is any on the stick at all--generally you are a gallon low
even right after a service a truck will find its own spot where it likes the oil to be--they never seem to sit at the full mark--some might go down 2 or 3 qts then sit there for 12000 miles--but you are right in putting oil in the truck--the owner is just being cheap and stupidscottied67 Thanks this. -

I wouldn't have bought the oil. It should shut down once it gets low enough. Then someone gets a service failure if you are out on the road.
Are you really reading what you type?
Perhaps you got a head injury when you were in the Marines?
SOMETIMES YOU GOTTA SAY "WTF!!" AND RUN AWAY.scottied67 Thanks this. -
Scottie,
You can get a used Freightliner Century from Select trucks for 35K with 300K miles worth of warranty. You also can go to Lone Mountain and put down anywhere from 3K-5K for a truck and get the title after you make the last payment.
KHscottied67 Thanks this. -
This is a raw deal. This guy isn't helping you with anything you can't do on your own.
Use that thing on your shoulders for something besides a hat rack!
He's living paycheck to patcheck and wants to pony up your down payment?
Puh-LEEZE!!!ironpony, otherhalftw and The Challenger Thank this.
