Injun, I agree, at 2400 miles, I also received a decent check, but again, it depended on where I was running at the time. If stuck in the mountains with heavy loads, then when mileage is about 6.4mpg, you will lose, and if on the east coast where the fuel was high. My foot is not in the middle of the motor. Ran one time at 62 mph for a time, then at my normal of 65 mph, and the difference was not there. But again, it would depend on other factors, like weather, winds and weight of load. I have had those that I averaged over 8 mpg, and those that averaged about 7. There is one thing that I need to do, and that is to get a new fuel sensor, so that when I hit 1/2 tank, it is actually accurate. Once hit 1/2, it starts to sink like a rock, and when it hits the red and the light comes on, will fill up, and only take 120 gallons. Also, I only have 200 gallons on my truck It could be Wednesday moring, and ready to deliver the load, and have about 200 miles to go, and that ##### red light comes on, and I will stop to put some on, even when I can get to delivery, but better to be safe than sorry.

Lucy u, right now I am at 5.62 @ 60 mph, I am thinking about by passing the egr and get an ecm tune to get better fuel mileage. Even at 55mph on flat with a 13000 lbs load I'm stil getting under 6mpg. So I know my probelm is not getting loads because most weeks I get 2200 to 2700 miles

Geez! What kind of truck is that, oc3? That's worse than that Crapcadia I had over at Prime!

A columbia from what I'm hearing that's about what the columbias get unless you start throwing money at it (ecm tune, upgrade turbo, change muffler and/or by pass the egr) about $5K for stage 2 turbo and ecm tune I should be close to 7.5 mpg and 750hp

That wasn't my experience with a Columbia. The ones I drove got in the low 7s with Swift tuning.

Sounds like there's something else going on. Start with the simple, cheap stuff. Change all your filters first. Then do a simple ECM tune you can pay the DieselDoctor about $200 for in Effingham. He can turn up the torque (most important) horse power and fuel pressures. I would advise you against trying to put 750 hp into a 60 Series Detroit. The truck is not designed for it and it will wear your other components. You should be able to pull well enough and get good fuel economy with 450 to 500. Yours is probably set to 375 or 415.

Check that all of your fuel lines are clean. Get your tanks pumped and cleaned. There is no reason you shouldn't be getting at least 6.5 out of that motor...unless you're running mountains with heavy loads and a heavy foot.

You might want to get your air-to-air checked for leaks too. That'll kill your mileage in a hurry.

I was getting this message with low 7's before I had the 13 speed put in. However the IFTA fuel tax breakdown I get every month has my average at 6.4, up from 6.15 before the 13 speed.

I tried the top off, measure miles and top off again, 631 miles, only took 90 gallons to fill up again
I have the same problem Blsqueak has, often times it will show 2/8ths but only needs 132 gallons to fill up this morning. Around half a tank on needle or less, the needle will go down to empty, the red light on then back and forth to half and such and such on the hills. Usually the next time I put in 50 gallons it will show 5/8ths or if I shut if off then back on, it will stabilize and show true amount of fuel. So I think that's what's been lowering my average maybe, buying a little more fuel than necessary all the time.
