They have a pretty good deal going on right now.Sign a lease and your first 8 weeks will be no payments due. Will have to be a used 2011 or older truck though. Freight is expected to be slow for the next 8 weeks so buyer (lessee) beware of this gift horse.

Last year the deal was 23 days no payments.
The year before was full tanks of fuel and 6 or 8 holidays no payments due.

I believe on the used trucks there is a warranty on the engine for 450,000 miles. Starting out the gate, anything goes wrong first 30 days, Swift will pay all repairs.

can you explain how you do that? I am averaging 2400 miles, and coming out negative....I run about 65 miles an hour...what is the main key? running 55 all the time?

The fuel bill is your largest controllable expense. What's your 30-day average mileage, average fuel cost per mile at the pump, and what are you driving?

There is a speed:miles per gallon sweet spot for every truck. Most would say it is about 58 - 62 miles per hour for the Swift spec'd trucks.

You have to find out where your money is going. For instance if fuel is costing you $0.80 cents per mile but fuel surcharge is at $0.46 cents per mile that could be creating a negative paycheck every week.

Some of it can be contributed to short miles like Swift offers you 500 miles loaded but it takes 580 miles to get the job done, is going to create negative paychecks over the week.

A lot of idling hurts, excessive deadheading empty to get to that next load hurts too. Remember only getting $0.81 cents per mile empty, so in essence basically earning $0.01 cents per mile and perhaps even negative cents per mile empty after all fixed expenses, fuel etc are factored in.

There are just so many dynamics that can cause a negative paycheck. You can call Rapid Response and have an adviser go over your account with you to work out some solutions.

My son and i are thinking of leasing, and have made several calls to the Company. And this is what I've been told by some very nice company people .----- The truck will be 2009 pro star , one even said a automatic transmission .New tires ?. And with my math skills , this is what I came up with. At .90 cpm - .09 for maintenance , if one drives at 60 mph ( with a team ) by the book ! we could drive 1200 in one day . 6 on 6 off with a 1:58 minute break at the end of each shift . One days pay would be $972.00 , - 7 days $ 6794.00 - minus truck payment of $ 800.00 a week, = $ 5994.00 a week ....... At 7 mpg we would burn up 171.5 gallons in 1200 miles at $4.00 a gallon , costing $686.00 = for 7days $ 4802.00 bring that weeks pay to $ 1192.00 . I guess you would say that was a model week ? , . Now that's not counting getting paid for hookup fees, or taking out for hospitalization ,or taxes .... I think with federal taxes taken out ( TX has no income tax ) it would be around $1000.00 a week take home . Didn't add the fuel surcharge ... What do you think, am I wrong ??????

Revenue is off ... you also have fuel surcharge ... another $.46pm right now ... But your hours are wrong .. 1200 a day is a full 10 hr drive shift per driver, plus pretrip, dock time and fuel ... you will only run about 6.5 days, then have to reset. But reality ... for a team look at 5500 to 6000 miles per week.

My question is why wouldnt you want to lease????...I make decent money and have all the freedom i could ask for...plus swift does all the paperwork, but i make the decisions to run not run...take time off...and at the end of the lease i can buy the truck that i know every single mile and repair issue and was given proper pm for it's entire history...can u say that about a used truck?.....and here is a big secret...ok?...swift is a good company....but dont tell anyone...no one would believe you anyways...so,why would you not want to lease???:biggrin_25511:
