With respect, driving by doesn't give you the detail needed to make that determination. I would guess that the tractors stacked 4 deep are on the sell list, and when the do sell they get moved to the 'trade area'. I would again profer the Schneider Gary yard as an example.

Just about every truck in this picture is on the sale list. I've seen the area on the upper left stacked 5 deep.

All of these trailers are for sale, plus probably a couple dozen more in the main yard.

As long as there isn't any debt service on the equipment, there isn't any imperative to make them sell. Eventually, someone is going to buy it.

i never worked for Swift either.

but we have all heard the horrific stories of companies stopping the fuel card(s), and leaving drivers stranded, in fact on this site so many of them.

this is why drivers need a credit card, or debit card, to get home via the airport, or car rental, train or gray dog.

when a company leaves a driver stranded, did they really care about him or her..???

they KNEW dang well they had human beings out there.

so park the truck, clean it out (i always traveled light, no TV, fridge, etc),, lock up the truck, take pictures to document any damages, or NONE, then get outta dodge.

let them worry about any recovery..i had a family worried about me, and my safety, over a thoughtless company.

so then, if the driver sends the paycheck, minus say about $200 cash for himself to live on the road for the week, and the costs of food, maybe showers, maybe a few snacks, which are all normal for anyone, then the payroll is late, for x numbers of days, how does he eat? one can forgo a shower, snacks, but at the very least 1 good meal a day to get him through till the next day..???

not all drivers have trucks with a fridge, nor the space to have one. not all drivers stop and eat all day long, or play video games at each and every truck stop.

many people wait till the last minute to pay the bills, especially if done online, cuz the money is sent home, for the wife to feed those kids...and she pays the bills as well for the family.

too many variables like a child at home having an emergency, like an injury, or sudden sickness, that required extra money for that driver to send home out of his pocket, for you to tell people....... "to get your stuff in line"........

How about the companies expect drivers to sacrifice, time in dock not paid, or repairs or sleep, deal with the rude ungrateful warehouse workers. Not all but a lot are. But in return paid on time for their efforts. And most of the time companies know #### well in advance if payroll will be met on time on the day it’s expected. At the very least a little heads up and explanation of what’s happening is the very least they could do. Now I understand maybe a computer glitch, ok well people’s bill collectors might not understand. But the fact remains payday is payday. No ifs ands or buts.

Those all sound like pretty good reasons to not live beyond your means and have an emergency fund.

The way I handled it was I paid for everything on the road by credit card and I paid off my credit card every month with my paycheck. If the company didn't pay me for 1 week or 1 month I still bought food with my credit card. I had cash in the bank to pay my credit card bill even if my paycheck didn't get deposited. Too many drivers approach paying bills like those desperate drivers that try to implement a split-break in an emergency AFTER they have used up their 11 hours for the day. It's too late.

During normal times ALWAYS put money into an emergency fund every payday instead of the "normal" spend every last penny the moment the paycheck is deposited and keep looking for more things to buy until credit cards are maxed out and then blame the boss or the president for not making someone rich.
