Hay you guys finally home. 4 weeks but I got my CDL A. It took me four weeks cus they did not give me any time on shifting the first two weeks we had a class of 36 -38 not sure but they did not get to in time for shifting and they told me I should stay another week and it was worth staying I got 24 hr of shifting time but I was ready to test out after 4 hr but they tested me out on friday any way I got to Ocala for road training last monday and tested out yesterday with DMV and pass and now I'm a newbe not a student any more. Sheilamae tell your son I got his coments and tell him that to listen to the instructors in TN so that he can get used to controlling the trailer backing up and when he gets to Ocala he will learn the road and tell him to listen to the instructor in Ocala he will got him ready for the dmv test only if he listen 100% to him the instructor could be a pain but he knows what he is talking about. Finally my CDL in my hands I will be home a week and then back to Ocala for orientation. Stay in touch.:biggrin_2551::yes2557:

No problem! Sorry for the delayed response. I just moved me from the 48 states in into the DCX dedicated (eastcoast) division and they have been running the dog stew out of me. I'm glad that you have your CdL. If you need help on anything about swift just send me a message.

just finished Swift's training course in Tenn and completed their 5 day road course in 3 weeks ... tested and got my Class A today ... I am scheduled for orientation on March 9th.

with that said, training was good but it was clear there were not enough instructors. A lot of students failed to pass the basic requirements and had to stay over another week ... that put more pressure on instructors to teach a larger group.

I watch one guy fail his CDL 3 times ... Swift gave him access to a truck twice for free and then gave him another shot when a slot opened up ... but now he has to pay a third party $375 to rent a truck to take a shot at his fourth road test. Nice guy that frooze when he was tested.

I liked the instructors but the student ratio and time frame needs adjustment ... only the cream will get their CDL in 3 weeks ... if you plan on training with Swift expect one additional week of training, half the class need 4 weeks to pass.

I went to roadmaster in Orlando class 5 of 09 we all pass everything the 1st time. There was 13 of us in the class. They say that was the 1st time a whole class passed everything the 1st time pretrip yard and road test. The guy that failed all those times in your class just needs to relax. We had a women that never learned to drive standerd before and she got it down in 3 weeks.

Just an FYI for the arguements a few weeks ago......

When you scale at a CAT certified scale.....if you adjust your tandems and re scale, they charge you $1.00, however, if the gross changes on the re-weigh, they do not charge you anything. Why??? Because they know that the gross does not change unless something is wrong with the scale. Mrs. know-it-all shouldn't mislead you. Common sense, something weighs 80,000 and you rearrage things, it still weighs 80,000, period, end of discussion. CAT doesn't charge you if the gross changes, that's only because the gross CANNOT change and they would then be aware that their scale needs to be calibrated and checked. And for you who claims the gross changed by 200 lbs and you have the proof......
next time leave your girlfriend off the truck for both the first weigh and the re-weigh.......:biggrin_2554:
I'm just playing with ya, just wanted to point out the people who post things here DON'T know more than the CAT engineers who designed the scale system.
Be safe all, hope I stirred the pot a little.
