Ok, got it. Wasn't sure about that.

Generally are those lots where people park their personal vehicles pretty safe?

for the most part no, they are normally in front of the terminals so anyone can come and go. Lewiston is just open to the public, sumner here is set up where driver parking is in the back of the front lot so it isn't hard to get to a vehicle if someone wanted. That being said I've never heard of anyone breaking into a car or stealing anything, just I personally do not take the risk.

    DocWatson Thanks this.

Graduated the Lewiston academy Dec. 14...was a great experience. Yes we did the grade...low clouds at times no ice though...probably would have crapped myself if there was.

There's been the same bike there in Sumner for quite a few months.. The brakes are all rusted... It's just as safe as parking at any public store, Wal-mart and what not... Even seems to be a few people living there in RVs... I've had to park in the other parking lot a few times because of the driver parking area being all sorts of full up.

I'll have to think about whether I want to leave my bike out there for any amount of time. I'm thinking I probably won't.

Speaking of parking at terminals, Lathrop had a problem with with too many cars until recently where they had a bunch of unclaimed ones towed off. Basically the driver's parking is designated out in the far reaches of the parking lot, office personnel are allotted the heart of the parking for easier and closer access to the main building. Most of the cars and pickups on the outer edge (driver's parking) had at least one flat tire. Some had busted windows and really looked like a junk yard out there. Also someone from the office was feeding the wild cats out there for a while but they bred like rabbits and overran the place, so many of them have been collected up and removed. There was one kitty who walked right up to me and let me pet it, breaks my heart to think someone abandoned that poor kitty to a wild life.

Wow, I wonder at what point they start towing cars with the flats and broken windows. If my home terminal lot looked like that I would probably just keep my bike in storage and maybe just get a beater to keep at the terminal, something no one would want to steal anyway.

Drove out of Sumner terminal for 2 years; once someone helped themselves to 15 gallons of gas from my pickup. Otherwise, no problems.

Not sure about other terminals but at Lathrop they will give you a little parking pass thing to hang in your windshield so they know not to tow it off. Not only that but before they will tow a vehicle in Lathrop they will blast a message to all Lathrop drivers with the vehicle(s) license plate, make , and model so the driver has an opportunity to send a reply back asking them to wait before towing it off.

As far as Sumner goes, I enjoy going in there sometimes. Right across the street is a park where I walk my dog, or go down the street across the little bridge, there is a walking trail that goes on for miles and miles. On a good day you can see Mount Rainier clear as a bell. Nice large TV room and friendly folks in the office.
