Armor all is bad for rubber.

Keep up on your Maint. When on hometime. You shouldn't need emergency parts on the road.

I wouldn't dream of taking my car or bike on a road trip if I found something that could be a problem.

So when a hose clamp breaks on Sunday, under a load, you call a tow truck?

When my hose clamp broke. The hose popped off. Someone had to bring me some antifreeze.

    And it wasn't a tow. :)

That reminds me, I used to keep at least 8 gal. If old AF in the passengers step box. I broke a clamp a few mo.s back, Luckily, I was on the fuel island. In over 23 yrs. 3 Trucks, been on the hook twice, Once for a locked up engine, once for a totaled out Truck. Knock on wood. Being prepared, is key. The 3 turbos I’ve blown, we’re on the road, Along with broken front spring, water pumps, fan clutches, A couple injectors. An unexpected repair is just that. A 20 yr old Truck that always makes the delivery, doesn’t just happen by chance.

    Update.

Having the oil, oil filter, and fuel filter changed at a bit over 5k miles post rebuild.

Fuel economy is still a bit low, but I realized the other day that this is partly due to winterized fuel. When I fueled in GA, my fuel economy was only a little below 6.8 MPG. When I fueled in PA, my fuel economy dropped to around 6.4 MPG.

You’re basically breaking in a new engine. Might take 75k or so before your fuel mileage comes back to what it was.

Governed at 67 for the duration of the loan, I normally keep her there as much as possible.

That’s exactly what I was thinking, pretty good mpgs for a fresh engine. Expect up to 1 mpg gain around 70 k

I’ve never been around a DD15. But the 12.7 I had took right around 70k after the overhaul to start acting like it did before.
