    The tensioner on a DD15 has a core charge. It is a dual tensioner.

    I have a box of computer junk in storage with bits and pieces of hardware going all the way back to 14.4k baud modems and original ZIP drives. I even have a smattering of older bits and pieces like parallel port printer cables and whatnot. There are probably 30 video cards, 20 hard drives, and 200 assorted random cables in that mess.

    I do not want to start a collection of truck parts like that. Truck parts are heavier, and would need a MUCH bigger box.

    I’ve heard a lot of tricks from old timers but this is a gem. Never even thought about it. I keep spare belts for the truck and spare belts for a older carrier reefer as well as fuel lines in the truck (back to dry van atm). Really hoping one day I make someone’s day with the reefer belts. Time will tell.

    After research Snowwys claim is backed up by people online though?? Who knows.

    You did get me wondering so I did some googling of my own. Tons of claims by random guys saying it ruined their dash. But I've used it off and on on every vehicle I've ever owned and never got a cracked dash and I keep my stuff forever, heck im still driving the F150 I bought in 04.
    And quite a few claims by 'experts' that are also paid spokesmen for more expensive competitor products.
    The only thing I found with any validity to it was its bad to use in a body shop environment because of the risk of over spray on other vehicles in the process of being prepped for painting or with wet paint.

    I"ve seen lots of cracked dashes.
    Seats and tires also.

    You always knew who used.

    And when you're doing emissions. You'll see upwards of 60 cars a day at the end and beginning of the month.

    Why on god's green earth anyone would recommend it on the belts is beyond me.

    It's not often we get belts changed these days. Them dudes last a long time.
    Hope they aren't spraying the ribbed surfaces. That's a sure fire way to create belt squeal and premature failure.

    I've seen a lot of cracked dashes to. Just not on my vehicles.

    The reason I use it on spare belts is because it keeps them from drying up and hardening when they sit a year or two in the side box. Belt dressing would do the same thing but not only is it rarely stocked anymore it's also another thing to have to carry with you.

    You are right about one thing, belts last longer than they used to. Still doesn't mean they are immune to breaking. Even brand new ones can fail at the worse possible time and location. Being prepared doesn't mean you don't maintain your equipment and run junk, it just means you are prepared in case of a bad situation.

    Some things aren’t worth keeping. Case in point,Mechanic just called, mentioned that some idiot put silicone on thermostat housing. I confessed, I put them in 4 yrs ago, they were about 7 yrs old at the time. Lol.I had them left over from my last Truck. The rubber seal was a little hard.Housing kept seeping, Lol But I made them work at the time. I just bought 2 new ones,but didn’t put them in yet, since I found the blown head gasket, and got 2 in the OH kit.Same scenario, hopefully I can return them, this time.

    Smart Man, I once had to take an old steering box,out of the side step box, to get the load to scale at the Shipper, I could hear the Trucks behind Me, complaining. Definitely guilty of “ saving” too much stuff.
