I can see your attitude begin to change. The gung-ho is leaving the building. When a 500 mile day is a total bummer then something is wrong.

With all the backroads on the east side. Pretty easy to run around the scales. Provided no low bridges or weight restrictions.

The problem with this is that even if I don't get caught running illegal, letting the shipper get away with crappy loading means that we get more crappy loads in the future.

As expected, McLane turned me away when I arrived 3.5 hours late. So I get to sit on this load another 20+ hours.

Annoying, but I am not terribly concerned about it. The last few weeks have been solid miles, so I can afford a crap week.

Heh. My goal is 650 miles a day. I generally only get that on days that I drive full days without visiting a shipper or receiver. I rarely get those miles in Winter above I-40 because I start a little later and shut down a bit earlier to avoid road ice as much as possible.

However, from now until Novembet or so, I will work to run off as much of my clock as possible, for max miles.

Not sure how that's going to work this year though, since it is likely that account activity is getting weaker, or I wouldn't have been given this terrible load. Even if everything else was perfect, this load was crap for me.

Welp, McLane gave me a new appointment date. 2359 on 04/05.

    LOL.

Asset manager is looking into where I can t-call this load.

Did you encounter a open scale house on that run...?

I do agree with your point about letting the shipper get away with loading crap loads. But your taking the loss on this not the shipper.......

And whoever delivers the load will most likely have to pay the late fees from your original delivery.

I did not encounter an open scale house, and if I had, I was legal.

I don't mind taking an occasional hit if it might help encourage our customers to load trailers competently.

I documented what happened quite well. Nothing is coming back to Crete. If McLane charges a late fee, Crete will pay it with an EFS check, then Crete and the shipper will hash it out.

No other driver will be harmed during the filming of this Charlie Foxtrot.
