I was meaning that the next driver will be in for a surprise unless they already know that it was late.
I picked up two pallets in Dallas going to unfi on the south side. The broker never told me that it had two late fees. I went to check in and they said it’ll be $539. So mister broker had to crawl out of bed at 06:00 to give a express code.
Taking the plunge. My journey as an O/O.

It's the way it rolls latelyWestern flyer and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
All I can do is all I can do.
Unless i wanted to risk a 1800 dollar tandem overweight ticket, plus whatever other fun would pile on top of that. No thanks. -
Bob, you're a good guy and a better man than me. But I can tell you on the recieving end of the recieving dock, there's always room for the stuff they ordered.
Think about it. We allotted X for Y. He's late, so that means Y goes away??Farmerbob1 Thanks this. -

Will I run a load that's a few pounds over? Sure. Been there. Done that. But 1700 lbs over? Nope. -

So, today's fun.
They decided to drop the rescheduled load in the Indianapolis terminal, then they gave me two more loads. One to pick up the next morning, live load and drop/hook at final. The other to drop/hook at shipper and receiver.
So, it was looking like my week would be 650, miles, then 500, then 400, then 200, then 500, then a 34 and deliver the day after that. Basically a garbage week.
I was told I could not overnight at the first shipper. Fine. Nobody answered the phone there. I saw a truck stop very close to them.
So, I went there and asked nicely if they might be able to load me today, instead of tomorrow. They said yes. So I got loaded, and hauled the load to final, after verifying through the CSR that I could drop a day earlier.
No empties at the site. They had 20 Shaffer trailers, but were 5 days behind schedule unloading. No Shaffer's in any unloading doors either. Le Sigh.
Drove to Columbus terminal (on my way to next load's pick) and there are like 40 empty reefers here, but every one is locked out, mostly stripped units for sale, but half a dozen higher number trailers locked out for service as well.
Ran out of hours in Columbus. Will recheck the Columbus yard tomorrow and see if any empty reefers have come in, or been repaired -
Sounds like Crete is becoming a cluster as well.
Cat sdp and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
