If I'm at loves and need a tire I buy the loves retreads. They are really good tires and cost about the same as a used tire. I ended up buying 8 of them and have had really good luck with them. I didn't know TA carried the Ironman tires at the time or I would've got them instead.

Well, I stepped onto a scale yesterday, put in my quarter and got bad news and lucky numbers.

I knew I had been eating far worse than normal recently without being able to sit down for non-fast-food meals, but hitting 300 lbs for the first time was an eye opener.

So, starting yesterday, I have started a low carb diet. Lots of cheese, jerkey, pork rinds, beef sticks. Protein and fats mostly, but I will also be grabbing salads and freeze dried green beans. Since I like my teeth in my head, there will be apples and occasionally other fruits as well.

My goal is 200 lbs by the end of the year.

Good for you. I've dropped @60 lbs on that diet so far and it works. But easy on the fruit. Not everyday. Try to stay under 20 grams of carbs per day for the first couple weeks.
But you need to get some exercise in too. Briskly walking for 30 minutes 2 to 3 times a week will do wonders for you cardio-vascular system and will help your weight loss. Good luck and hang with it.

Fresh apples in moderation are actually pretty awesome for low carb. While they seem sweet, they really have few carbs compared to many fruits. Lots and lots of fiber, and they also help prevent acid reflux which can be an issue in a diet with lots of protein and fat, for some people. An apple a day is awesome for you. It's not just a saying!

I am a big fruit eater. I eat fruits like a pig. Give me 5 pounds of juicy peaches and they are gone in 10 minutes. Give me 5 pounds cherries and I will eat them like a dog, unaware when I am full. My wife hides fruit from me. I can go without pastry and bread but never without fruit. Keto is too hard for me. I tried and failed, tried and failed. For the weight control, I'd be better off jumping ropes. Besides, the metabolism gets strange when I am on that keto thing.

My problem isn't normally what I eat, it's how much. I wrestled and played football in high school and at 5'8, 135 lbs, I could bench 275 and leg press the whole stack on any machine I ever sat in. I ate around 7k calories a day.

While my food intake dropped when I stopped playing sports, I never dropped it enough.

For 20 years I gained a couple lbs per year. Then I stopped smoking and gained about 40 lbs in two years. Five years after that I started driving a truck and was adding a couple lbs per year again.

Then this Covid19 crap destroyed my ability to get good food regularly. Corn dogs, Doritos, fast food, and ice cream put 30+ lbs on me in only a few months.

I am hoping this is a turning point for me in diet control. I smoked 22 years before I quit, and have never cheated with even one smoke since I quit for the last time.

My mental state with weight control now feels a lot like my conviction to stay smoke free.

Not sure if that might sound weird, being able to judge the firmness of my own convictions, but I feel good about getting below 200 lbs and keeping myself there.

Funny, that reminds me, an o/o who goes to the same shop as I do, was saying the same thing and ordered 8 Bridgestone drives, when they arrived, four had a stamp Made in USA and the other four Made in Thailand or something like that

    Oh, update on fuel economy.

The truck is telling me I am averaging 6.0 MPG.

I am pretty certain that this is because the tires I purchased are a larger diameter than my old tires.

I can tell this because my GPS is pretty accurate about road speed, and when the truck is saying I am going 67, the GPS is flipping back and forth between 68 and 69.

Guess I will need to have the tire diameter corrected in the truck computer to get an accurate reading on mileage.
