I will double check, but I believe the axle is rated at 20k. Will check inside the door after dinner.

I will need to check the manual. The inside of the door indicates 12,350, but it also specifies a specific tire type, and that tire type happens to have a per tire rating of 6175. Not sure what the limiter there is.

Rear axles are rated to 20k.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Ya , but you probably got a 12K axle rating on the front....:)

I just pull the fronts when they show the first signs of screwed up wear. And move the back to the drives or trailer. They straighten out and wear down just fine....

And I always have new fronts...:)

Even if the manual says you've got a 20k steer axle, you should probably go by what the sticker in the door says.

Then 12,350 is your limit on the steers even with a 14k tire.

For what it’s worth I’ve always gotten better wear out of 16 ply steer tires even running just a touch over 12k.

I can definitely see a difference in side bulge between the old tires and the new. It's noticeably less with 16 ply. Even at the same air pressure. I run steers at 110 cold.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

    Well,

Seems like 4238 is not done needing me to spend money on her.

Getting DEF quality errors. Not filter errors.

She derated on me twice. The first time she derated, I stopped, checked the codes, and added more DEF, filling it completely full, hoping to dilute the impurities, if they were real. The error on the dash dropped a step, and the derate ended.

15 minutes later, the derate resumed, lasted ten minutes, and ended. The first level dash error code has been constant all morning though.

So, here I am, stopped at a TA that can read Freightliner codes.

I am hoping this is simply a bad sensor, and the sensor is not stupidly expensive, or difficult to replace.
