I asked them to use the less expensive component. They actually argued against it. TA Effingham.
Taking the plunge. My journey as an O/O.

Well, there is now a real danger to my productivity.
EVE online has come to android, and so far I am enjoying it a great deal.
A high quality graphical MMO on a phone.Coragran and Rideandrepair Thank this. -

Well, as mentioned elsewhere, I haven't said anything here for a while.
The truck has been running well since I replaced the steers.
The miles and efforts to get miles, however, have been a problem.
Crete has still never lied to me, but at this point they came close enough that I am a bit irritated.
The account I have been driving as a part of for about 3 years now has changed dramatically.
First, apparently we recently lost most of the drop and hook loads to other companies in the most recent contract negotiations. The current account has a lot more live loads, which tend to average fewer miles, and heavier loads. All three of those things are poison to me as an o/o at the rates I am getting from Crete.
I found this out from my new account manager, who I had never even heard of before the day I reached out to offer my 14 day resignation from the team, due to the continuous crap loads I have been getting.
Talk about being treated like a mushroom.
They changed my team lead, and completely changed the types of loads associated with the account - and never told me anything.
To be fair, my surprise team leader did seem genuinely interested in why I was disappointed in the numbers I have been getting. 2200-2500 miles a week is apparently acceptable to most of the company drivers on the team.
I explained that 2500 miles is a terrible week, 3000 is acceptable, 3500 is good, and 4000 is a goal I have only managed once.
So, on the 14th of this month I will be moving over to the Shaffer national account for o/o. This will mean I will normally get to choose from three loads instead of simply being assigned a load, and if they are all crap, I can refuse them all.
I will also be looking a little harder at paying the truck off ASAP and moving to a company with a load board.
The Mars account at Shaffer was awful nice, but it's dead to me now. If I am going to pull short, heavy live loads, I might as well choose them for myself.God prefers Diesels, Just passing by, tommymonza and 7 others Thank this. -
Also, have you been able to benefit from the crazy bump in rates carriers have been getting the last couple of months?Last edited: Sep 2, 2020
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
The rates will be roughly the same. Exact numbers to be determined in a couple weeks.
I doubt I will see any change as a result of pulse pricing.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Good accounts never last...........
DUNE-T, Rideandrepair and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
Wonder which one that ..Crete or Shaffer..makes more profit per load on...for the same load...company truck or O/O ?
Farmerbob1 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
The few Shaffer Drivers I’ve known of, all complained about short miles, and grocery warehouses and unloading freight.
Farmerbob1 Thanks this. -
