I’d like to think an owner/driver of an 80,000 lb 18 wheeler with six figures of important cargo is a little bit bigger of a deal then someone mowing grass. I personally would feel prideful as a shipper if I’m paying a little more and loading clean, well kept, rigs.
Washing twice a week to ME is too much, I’m more of a bi weekly. But, depending on what your hauling and where your hauling, twice a week might be a requirement of doing great business for some.

I guess washing a truck in excess is quite opposite to driving too slow to save on fuel (per K.R. show).
I don't care how much $$$$ I would save but I will not drive 57 mph all year long.

As a owner operator you need to grow a set, and tell crete to have their company mules get the trailers washed out unless they plan on compensating you for every minute you sit in that washout line. They own those trailers, don't they? Let them figure that out.
If it bothers you that much, why not go back to pulling van freight so you dont have to sit in line anymore except for the inspection wash you mentioned above?

The clean bobtail has just as much right to wash his truck..as many times that he wants too ...as any another driver does ..you get in line and wait your turn...as we all do...be it for fuel , shower ,store purchase...or even a truck wash

I was very fortunate the other day that the timing on the load I was unable to pick up same day was flexible. -
For example, the Blue Beacon at the Raphine Petro. They frequently have a line of trucks ten long waiting for their single bay. There is plenty of room at that location to add a second bay and make it washout only, but Blue Beacon doesn't seem to understand that at extremely high volume locations like that, where there is only one bay, they could enormously improve their efficiency and more than double their income with a second bay dedicated to washouts.
The only possible meaningful reason I can think of for not adding a bay is if the government has restricted them somehow with water usage laws, or something.stuckinthemud and TallJoe Thank this. -
As for changing back to van? I've never hauled van freight except occasionally when there was no reefer freight in an area, or I needed to get home.
The reason I was so irritated about pretty trucks getting spa treatments in front of me is that It caused me to lose three hours of drive time a few days ago.
As for a sinking ship? Nah. Mileage is down since Shaffer lost the decent loads on the Mars account and I went back to the National Shaffer o/o pool. I'm averaging a pathetic 2700 miles a week or so the last couple months, but that's more than enough to pay the bills.
