AC compressor bought the farm. Looking at a replacement compressor, a few hours labor, and a pound or two of refrigerant.
503k miles. 3k miles out of warrantee. A planned obsolescence engineer has clearly earned their pay.
Last Month's total maintenance expenses was @2100. Including a valve adjustment. I also lost a total of three days driving due to maintenance requirements, which hurts almost as much as the cost of the maintenance itself. -
It’s sad isn’t it? I’ve had the same thing happen on my KW’s. It’s why these new trucks I’ve been buying I got warranty to 500k and don’t plan to run them 1 mile past it. These trucks should be good to a million miles.sealevel and Farmerbob1 Thank this.

With a sleeper truck. Plan on closer to 4 pounds of freon. Plus oil.
My w900 daycab holds 2.25 lbs.
Cars hold just over a pound.
Course. They should have a recovery machine to throw back In. Although recycled don't work as good as virgin. -
What's that run, over a grand?
-
Yes, capacity is 4 pounds. They recovered more than half of that.
-
Yeah. Between the compressor, the extra bits, the dryer service, some refrigerant, and the labor, it cost about 1100.
Since I was out of warrantee, I used a new aftermarket compressor instead of an OEM unit. Saved about 160 doing that. Hopefully that choice will not come back to bite me. -
It won't. Good news is that you've replaced about everything that will break. Your starter will go out soon....$600. But your compressor should last to nearly a million miles

Does Crete give you ... a repair and service history on the truck..before you buy it..hope they replaced the EGR cooling system

I think he brought that about a month ago
iraqralph43 Thanks this.
