I have done liquids for the last two years. 70% of the loads are hazmat. I would never haul with a waiver. It's just one load. I could see it going really bad.

Its obvious you have no idea how a company like landstar works. For one, YOU are the dispatcher. Only YOU choose the loads to take. So the only way you can be "accidentally" dispatched on a hazmat load is if you ignored the big flaming red HAZMAT word.

Do what you want. Ive done my good deed for the month and gave it my best attempt at getting you to see things for what they are instead of seeing them for what you think they are.

Best of luck to ya, i mean that, no sarcasm.

The bottom line is that I do not want to haul hazmat. Any company that requires me to have a hazmat cert in order to be employed clearly expects me to haul hazmat, at least occasionally.

    Why invite that conflict?

No. It's a free background check. That and a TWIC card are.

That is actually moderately clever of Landstar if you are right, abusing government background checks like that.

Nothing is free. The background check to get cleared for haz around here is like $58 or close to it and you must get finger printed. Landstar must cover that cost?

Its $80 around here and I sincerely doubt Landstar pays for anything other than inspections.

Last time I renewed. It was $85 for the finger prints.

Don't remember what the endorsement was 2 years ago when I renewed my license.

I've got 4 months to get my fingerprints in again or my license get's suspended. Haven't looked yet so don't know if the cost is still the same.
